I think there were some beautiful and spectacular sequences in "Treasure Planet", but for me the last time I was blown away by a sequence in a Disney movie was the opening of "Tarzan."

Immediately following the opening, it's the sequence where the Mom ape rescues Tarzan from the jaguar. Just excellent. I also like the 'Son of Man' musical sequence. When Jane is being chased by all the babboons -- and Tarzan has to rescue her. Another amazing sequence. Prior to that movie, in 'Hunchback of Notre Dame' - I love the opening sequence with Clopin explaining the story of Quasimoto in flashback. And the 'Hellfire' sequence, with Frollo is a wonderful piece of animation. The opening sequence of 'Beauty and the Beast' is just outstanding. I wasn't surprised when it was decided to make this into a live action musical, it totally plays that way. Didn't have any 'wow' moments in 'Treasure Planet' 'Atlantis' 'Home on the Range' or 'Brother Bear.' Although, in 'Brother Bear' I did 'wow' at the way Phil Collins was able to rhyme 'best of all' with 'festival.' I'd like to see another musical from Walt Disney Feature Animation. Like 'The Little Mermaid' and 'Beauty and the Beast' and 'Aladdin' -- you know, where characters break into song and you can sing the songs and stuff.

I think the opening song, "Belle" is a perfect example of how musicals can be so economical at exposition. We know everything we need to know about Belle, her village, her father, and Gaston. In three minutes. I think "Hunchback" verged on brilliance - if they had skipped the gargoyles, it would have been my favorite animated feature. "Hellfire" is an amazing scene, and I think Judge Frollo is one of the best villains Disney has ever come up with. Thanks for reminding me of that scene, Jim.

And before BATB, the last wow moment was in Sleeping Beauty for me.

I didn't however care for Pomp and Circumstance being in it though, seemed out of place for some reason.

I loved his own amazed expression when he found himself running across the surface of the water and as he quickly gained confidence outwitting the bad guys. Just an awesome scene in a movie jam-packed with awesome scenes. There were WOW! moments in every Disney animated feature for me, maybe with the exception of Atlantis. Even though I thought the story was a real mess and the jokes were all been-there-done-that in Home on the Range, I loved the very cartooney look of the film. Not a WOW! but a NICE! Another WOW! for me was the John Henry short. Just a brilliant work of art, and I loved the highly stylized design combined with the pencil-test look of it. A hidden treasure. Also, the "Rhapsody in Blue" segment of Fantasia 2000 may be my favorite bit of animation ever. To me, it's flawless, funny, touching.
