DAK is very good and getting better all the time. Everest (despite near constant problems with effects not working) is the best E-Ticket in a long time ... and Nemo: The Musical is a real crowd pleaser, not to mention the best stage show at WDW in what seems like eons. With the already good LotLK playing and the Birds of Wonder show, this park has the Disney market cornered on live entertainment. Also has some damn good BBQ!

Resort renovations are finally kicking into high gear and bringing many resorts into the 21st century. From the Contemp to the WL to the ASMu,the quality and feel of the furnishings and ambience is improving greatly.

CMs ... some how, some way ... maybe it is pixie dust because it sure isn't pay and/or appreciation from management, but they have been almost universally good to excellent on every visit in 2006 ... even the bus drivers (always a WEAK area) have been friendly and helpful with ACCURATE up-to-date park info instead of crazy rumors about fifth parks and where Walt's head is kept.

    Fireworks ... always a blast.

OK ... that's a good start ...be prepared for the areas WDW isn't doing quite so well soon (look at it as that Christmas present from me that got lost in the mail!)

Guest relations cast members at the MK are better than their California and Parisian counterparts in my experience.

It's possible that at Anaheim the CM's have become more guarded due to some AP's who ruin it for everyone else with their entitlement mentality.

Im also glad they didnt overdo any syngery stuff...stitch merchandise has a presence but its small and doesnt overshadow the main theme rather compliments it.

I also love what they did with Captin Cooks and I can finally get Pinapple whip without having to go to MK.

I wonder why bother with the positives at all ... it's obvious that my many fans here would much rather read about all the bad stuff ... from the fact you can always count on finding cheerios or pretzels on your resort floor, or the one really nasty CM I encountered all week (HINT: she works at the Mara and her first name begins with an L!) or the fact the WL parking lot hasn't been repaved since the place opened in '94 ... or about the fact NONE of the real effects on EE were working this week ... or how about the fact pools are no longer heated to 80 degrees in winter to save money ... or how depressing it was to be in WoL this week ... or something real important -- the fact bathrooms in the parks are not nearly as clean as they need to be? I could go on and on ... and if I did, rest assured, folks would come on out and discuss and post (and attack too).

But post a positive thread on a GREAT WDW visit? Nobody gives a damn.

FOX News has it right. Negativity sells.

I'll remember that when speaking to my literary agent! :)

Yup... you've got it. Who knows why a board devoted to the "Happiest Place on Earth" brings out so many who would rather see the bad than the good, but it sure does.

To make a long story short, good original post, I agree, the place doesn't suck and for once you were positive and able to see the glass as half full. Here's an extend pat on the back for being a little less jaded.

Thanks. And thanks for the nice note!

I do believe things in many areas are improving, as I've said, while some areas (like the MK as a whole or transport problems) aren't.

Well, I know it's 12/24 and I hate to be cynical, but I believe most Americans aren't happy right now. I think the chips they carry on their shoulders take all forms (like the murder at a local mall we just had a few hours ago in SoFla) ... so it comes out in many ways ... I'll readily admit I take out frustrations I have with stupidity and lowering standards at WDW by posting here because I know it gets read by people who can do something about it.

But boy have those DCA threads become hateful like it's 2001 all over again!

I'd say as many times as you agree. Then you expound on why you feel that way and the discussion flows.

My point was people who often accuse me (and others) of only seeing the bad are the ones most often who ignore when we post about the good!

When have I EVER said that WDW sucks? Answer -- NEVER! Because it doesn't and I never have believed otherwise. I don't look at the glass half full or half empty. I just write about what I see. I suppose I could say DAK and Epcot are great and largely getting better, while MK and Disney-MGM are stale, tired places that are getting worse ... that would be half-full/half-empty. But I'd rather just point out why it is that I believe both of the above to be true.

As to being jaded, guilty as charged. I have experienced far too much in life as a whole and with TWDC in particular to not be jaded.

But I will close on a very positive note by saying my recent visit was one of the best I've had in years, and that on the whole in 2006 WDW has taken many steps to fix what ails it.

    Merry Dec. 25th all!

As bad as some people think WDW has become, all they need to do is visit one of many other theme parks (i.e. Six Flags, etc) to see that WDW isn't so bad after all. But, there's ALWAYS room for improvement, even at Disney.

Thanks, Spirit, for all of your honest apraisals that you've written, whether good or bad. At least you show passion for a place that I can tell that you love, as do most of us here. (You too, TDLFAN!) And when something IS done right, we want to hear about it, as I'm sure, so does Disney management.

I am sure management appreciates the praise, but I don't think most people here care to be bombarded with positive posts right and left, and at least when I do post on positive things.. my posts go to the bottom of the list rather quickly, so no. People do not care when I post positive reports.

As I said to the Spirit, some of us DO care and we should probably be more vocal about it. I really appreciate that while both you and the Spirit will hold Disney's feet to the fire at times, you also clearly love the parks and will happily report on what you find that is right with them.

I don't know about others here, but it is precisely those kinds of posts that keep me coming back to LP. If I never saw anything here but the unrelenting negativity of some folks I don't think I could take it.

Thanks and Merry Chrismahanukwanzakah to all.

Not me, I know you and number of other key "negative" posters care more than most of these "it's all magic" ignoramouses. Why take so much time out of our busy lives. It hurts to see the depravation creeping in and I share that pain.

For the record, I didn't post much as you mentioned most of the good points already!
