I'm sure these decisions are being pushed by consultants with their fancy presentations, much like Disney got when it decided that after 40 years of operating its parks and resorts in one way, it was time to break what was working fine and replace it with a different model. I really, really dislike consultants ...

I think that was the biggest reason they closed in the first place.

I hate opera. <<I wonder if they are still looking into plans of turning Discovery Island, and River Country into a Pirates extravaganza.>> Not that I am aware of. Most of that was simply talk. Largely blue-sky rumor and 'what ifs?' <<They are both located where it's really not easy to reach. I think that was the biggest reason they closed in the first place.>> Nope. Discovery Island never was that popular, and once DAK opened there was no need for a tiny zoological sanctuary on an island. River Country, for all the bitching about its location, isn't that hard to reach. It was closed because it had the smallest capacity, needed a lot of work on infrastructure and Disney saw an opportunity to make the bottom line look better. The fact Disney is seriously considering adding another water park and that TL and BB regularly close due to capacity shows that there still is a need for more water park real estate. And yet Disney is throwing away one of the most unique locations in the world.

It's really a nice spot.

That was where Discovery Island use to be. Just south of there on shore before you get to FW boat dock is River Country. If you take a shuttle boat from WL to FW you can see the old docks on Discovery Island, and the rocks poking up through the weeds of River Country.

Just let it sit, decay and become an eyesoar and potential safety hazzard.

There are seveal different stories about this tree. The one i think is right is when the CP's assign to water craft complete their time there they throw their work shoes up on the tree. I bet TDLFAN are someone has a picture of it.
