Did anybody else ever remember hearing these rumors? Anything in the works for the future?

Also, great food at the Nine Dragons or whatever it's called...a must stop for anybody hankerin' for a hunk o' chicken!

About midway down the mountain, a coaster vehicle (looking very similar to the current Matterhorn Bobsled/Space Mountain vehicles) was seen diving out of a tunnel in the side of the mountain down a 'terrain' hugging curving drop. Inside the mountain, the trains were supposed to race through the neon district of Tokyo (ala Rock n' Roller Coaster), and, reportedly, a large Godzilla was supposed to be in one scene. Of course, none of this materialized. It was proposed in the mid to late 1980s.

On a similar note, the proposed Switzerland pavilion, to be located appropriately between Germany and Italy in World Showcase, featured Epcot's version of the Matterhorn, complete with it's own Bobsled coaster. This, too, was proposed in the late 1980s. It's too bad that neither one of these attractions were ever built.

Also, the proposed Denmark pavilion would have had a small re-creation of the famed Tivoli gardens, complete with carousel, Ferris wheel, and a gondola ride through beautiful gardens (saw the model of this a few years ago at traveling exhibition about the Architecture of Disney).

Other countries proposed over the years for World Showcase included Poland, Australia, Ireland, and Spain. In one prepoduction painting for all of World Showcase, iconic structures for India (Taj Mahal) and Egypt (pyramids) could also be seen, though this may have just been for basic representation of the concept for World Showcase.

Otherwise, an existing one might need to be bounced from Mickey's League of Nations.

I'm not sure where I remember seeing it, but I recall some map of WS that detailed where additional countries could go. It looked like behind certain existing pavilions there was room left behind them. For instance, a pathway between USA and Japan would be created to lead you to a new pavilion.

Never having seen the areas behind the pavilions, I'm not sure if it could even be done. But it sure is fun to speculate.
