I feel like it's mighty presumptuous of them to give a President a speaking role before they know what they will actually do in office. Sure, they can have him say really generic things like "hope" and "change" and move his arms every time he opens his mouth only to put them down when he pauses for a moment and then keep moving and talking again, but I don't think that would be any more interesting than just having him there I'm pretty sure we'll be hearing plenty from him in the news, so I won't be terribly upset if I don't 'get' to hear him while I'm on my vacation too. Also, does anybody know when in May it would reopen. I'm tentatively planning a trip for the middle of May, and I'd like to see HOP, since I've never actually done it and I'd like to check it off my list. It was one of the few things I was really excited about doing, and I'd be pretty bummed if it was closed. : /

You've got to check it out; if you can't do it on this trip then definitely on the next! <<I feel like it's mighty presumptuous of them to give a President a speaking role before they know what they will actually do in office.>> I could make SUCH a snarky comment here, but in the spirit of cooperation between parties, I will not.

Last time I was at WDW was Febuary 2003 and he defenitely spoke, only halfway through his first term. And why does it matter??? These guys arent talking about what they did in a war, they are simply talking about the American spirit and what it means to an American. They are just given something 'patriotic' to say. You mean to tell me an electric robot isnt allowed to speak while the REAL guy who is actually leading the country at the moment is doing his job. Find that a little hard to believe . And like I said, Bush was clearly talking in 2003, so I assume he was talking as soon as he was installed.

That is, apperently, the only good thing happening at the MK of late -- a rolling rehab/plussing of existing E-Tix. Jungle Cruise's money apparently went bye-bye, though and even sadder it appears as though Stale Mountain will only get a six-month cleaning instead of the original 18-month track replacement and new show scenes. I am not even sure they'll be adding new rockets with onboard sound, which was the original plan. Anyway back to HoP, I personally don't think it is a good thing to have the current prez speak (and both Clinton and Bush have done so since their first terms when they debuted). What was a patriotic attraction has become very political and partisan and there have been many ugly comments (and I am sure incidents) provoked by having the current Prez speak. I have to admit that I was tempted to boo Bush on my visit last week, but didn't because I am not boorish. I did make a comment to my companion as we were exiting about 'when we next see this President Obama will be in here' and got the dirtiest look from some 10-year-old little blonde twit who had obviously been listening to some not nice relatives spew their feelings. It was magical!

Anyway, it will be cool Obama will not only be there soon, he will get a speaking role too, yaaay. And it reopens on Independence day, huh? Disney and your symbolism ;O.
