The design with the entire ride (except for load/unload) in one shaft allows for more mixing of show scenes and drops, but they haven't done that yet.

I have read that the WDW shafts were not designed to handle the same stress load as DCA's and thus are limited in the amount of G-forces that can be programmed. I also read that the WDW shafts will eventually have to be re-built because they were not designed for the stress loads Tower 4 is exerting on them. I can not verify the validity of these statements other than it made logical sense to me since WDW's ToT design is the original and the oldest. The passenger cars used for DCA's ToT have iron grate floors which allows the air to rush through. This creats an additional "sensation" that IMO adds to the thrill factor.
