That being said... where are the evangelical preachers in all of this? The deadliest tornado since 1950 rips up Missouri, and these clowns are no where to be found.

When natural disasters strike blue or purple states, these bozos crawl out of the woodwork, yelling about how God is angry at the victims for their heathen, wicked ways, and the disaster is punishment for their transgressions.

So... why isn't God punishing the citizens of Missouri for their heathen and wicked ways, preachers? Why is this simply a horrific natural disaster when it hits a red state like Missouri, but some kind of divine punishment when a horrific natural disaster hits a blue or purple state?

    Hypocrisy much?

I would be stunned too, except that it seems like this is happening almost every week. I'm getting weather catastrophe overload. If it's not the tornadoes, it's the floods. And we haven't even gotten to hurricane season yet.

Just today I came across a column that likens the doomsday preacher to "leftists" that preach impending disaster from climate change.

    >> For years now, we have been told by the world's left-wing media that scientists are united in predicting that there will be worldwide catastrophe as a result of global warming caused by manmade carbon dioxide emissions. Oceans will rise so high that they will drown many of the world's great coastal cities; entire island-countries will disappear; vast areas of the world will dry up; and countries will fight one another for the little remaining fresh water.

Compared to the global warming scenario, I'll face the Rapture -- and I'm not even Christian. <<

This is what passes for informed judgement. The author doesn't actually dispute any of the predictions, just affirms that they're "dire" and that the rapture doesn't seem so bad by comparison.

Republicans are the driving force behind climate change deniers, and they're doubling down. Most of the current crop of GOP presidential candidates have been strongly and clearly on record as supporting some form of cap and trade for carbon offsets - in the past. Yet each and every one has done a complete 180 on their positions in order to pander to the ignorance and suspicions of the GOP base. The McCain-Palin ticket of 2008 was in favor of cap and trade, and part of the Pawlenty, Huntsman and Romney governor administrations. Gingrich not only endorsed carbon emission reductions, he sat on a couch with Nancy Pelosi in front of the capitol building and filmed a public service announcement to endorse his position. Yet today, each and every one has recanted their previously stated positions.

They have to, otherwise they're no longer a republican in good standing. Meanwhile the actual facts keep piling up. But reality doesn't matter to republicans.

Even though it sounds the same on one level, it is drastically different. Global warming folks tend to believe that we can control it or have vast amounts of influence on it. Climate change take the approach that it is natures cyclical being that has happened before and will happen again and there isn't a damn thing we can do about it. I'm from the later camp.

So there is scientific evidence and an international religious leader (if not THE leader to be frank, no other faith has such an international icon), that both accept it, and want to make a change.

I went to our tidy tip at the weekend (the dumps in the UK), and I recycled all but one thing I took there. I was very happy as I left that it said April achieved a 79% recycling outcome. Though I know we can still do better.

See, that is the great thing about the UK...they make even dumps sound nice. Tidy tip...I love it! I am going to start calling our dump here that. People will probably think I am nuts (not that I talk about it all that often anyways) but who cares :)

What we call a sweater they call a wooly jumper.

When we say "fanny" we are talking about the derriere. To the Brits that refers (a rather vulgar reference) to something on the opposite side of females.

Note to all: don't talk about "fanny packs" when you are in England!!

    LOL
