No Dan you completely missed the point. You were suppose to say something so outrageous that people would argue with you.

    Maybe you invite them in.

    >> But most Americans are content in their ignorance. If folks like George Bush says we're the best in the world, by golly how can we not be? <<

    Looks like bait to me.

    >> Ok, I admit to being a proud, content and ignorant of the rest of the world American, so I'm curious... <<

Don't fret over it, so are most Americans. Normally when people see it differently it's because the U.S.A. is not all they invision it should be. Just ask yourself is there any other place on the face of this earth you would rather be. Even with all of it's faults, it's still a great place to live.

    Now back to TDLFAN...

    your own question.

Yep we do. We have a huge issue with illegal immigration and there are detention centres up and down the country while they await deportation.

Although I love America, it is not the only desireable country. I miss the nature, the houses, the service standards and Disney, but I prefer in the main living in Europe. Every 6 months or so I question whether we should return to the US, and I always come to the conclusion we are probably better of over here, especially with the current administration.

Yep - I would like to be where ever my wife and kids are. America, the UK, Japan, they are just places. My family is home!

Over all there are great things about both places and neither are perfect. In an ideal world, I would part time in both.

And not everyone wants to be american, in many ways, people are ashamed of a number of american actions.

Ok Spirit we shouldn't get off track, but I believe that what happens in the rest of the world also affects what happens at WDW. So it seems other countries are being inundated with if not illegals, then at least foreigners. And I don't care where people are from, but I would expect and hope that they are proud of their own country and heritage. There are 3 countries I would really love to visit for their history, but not to live.
Davewasbaloo, your list was great, now if a few others would do that about their countries, I could really know the pros & cons of other countries. In the ads and books, they all are flawless and beautiful!

Yeah. I can be a devilish little Spirit.

But I think the real reason is because I (usually) say things of substance. It's kind of hard to troll a thread on 'Should I take my 8-year-old DS to Chef Mickey's or 'Ohana for breakfast on his B-Day?'

    >> But most Americans are content in their ignorance. If folks like George Bush says we're the best in the world, by golly how can we not be? <<

    <<Looks like bait to me.>>

No. Just stating an opinion after my thread was hijacked. When I see conservative talk hosts ripping 'W' (albeit 6 1/2 years too late), I don't feel like I'm at all in the minority with our WalMarted Prez!

    >> Ok, I admit to being a proud, content and ignorant of the rest of the world American, so I'm curious... <<

<<Don't fret over it, so are most Americans.>>

True. And I don't believe it's a good thing to live in a state of perpetual ignorance about the rest of the world. In many ways, we have a lot of things better here than in other countries. But on many things, crucial things like healthcare, we don't.

If you spend your whole life in Indiana (just an example) except for the once a year trip to WDW (where you stay on-site only, of course) and, perhaps, a road trip to Iowa at Christmas to visit Grandma, you have a very narrow worldview.

It may be a great place for some people to live. It isn't a great place for all to live ... or even the vast majority.
I enjoy living here, but I wouldn't mind having a few other homes around thw world (heck, around the country too!)

    <<Now back to TDLFAN...>>

Unless you have seen him in his purple Daisy Duck tee, you have no right to attack his mother for the way she dresses him!
