If you were old enough to remember 1987, that puts you at least 20 years old. Put 1987 into perspective before you compare 1987 to 2007. What was going on in 1987? No Cell Phones. Fax Machines were new. The Internet wasn't really around. Computers were toys. "Pong" was the big video game, so try to compare Oranges to Oranges, okay? You are not!!!! <<And please if you disagree, let's not point out obvious facts that are irrelevant to this discussion. Everyone knows WDW now has four parks, two water parks and 30,000 plus rooms and timeshares.>> Disney doesn't have timeshares. The Vacation Club is based upon the flexible use of a point system. You are not ‘locked' into a week, so get your info correct. And why does the Vacation Club exist? What is its purpose? Have you taken a tour to understand it? If you don't know, don't bring it up. <<Let's start with show and how important it used to be.>> SHOW is the big thing. You don't make the decisions for Disney. Do you want to know who makes the major decisions? GUESTS DO. Do you see those people walking around with clip boards? They ask questions that give the direction of what Guests want. <<Most people here probably don't see an issue with character-based entertainment in any/every land. But that's not what the MK was. In 1987 (and it's just a random year I picked because it's two decades ago) the only land with character-based entertainment/attractions was Fantasyland. The lands had meaning. Frontierland was about the wild west American frontier. Liberty Square went even further back to the Colonial/Revolutionary period. Tomorrowland was about the future. Adventureland was about visiting exotic lands where you could be attacked by hippos, climb a jungle treehouse, set sail with Pirates etc..., Main Street was about a nostalgic return to turn of the century small--town America.>> Guests want Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and all the other characters in ALL the parks. Epcot is now a fun family place because characters are in the park. That is a vital and critical change for the better for Epcot. There are now more families with kids going to Epcot then ever before. I can see how you can call AK stale, old or boring. Go on Kali River Rapids and tell me it is boring. AK is not meant to thrill people like you. It is an EDUCATIONAL PARK created specifically to teach families and kids the importance of our planet’s wildlife. MGM keeps changing and adding and so does the MK. As a cast member who sees the daily changes, you are so far off the beaten track, I could die laffin' at the laffin’ place. And the pisser of it all is you have no idea of what is coming up. How can you call the overhaul of the Haunted Mansion stale? How can you call the Pirates ride stale? Now, the Jungle Cruise, I could understand. BUT, it is not your opinion that counts. It is the opinion of the Guests. And I speak to them on a daily basis. If you think the park is stale, why don't you use your College Degree in Engineering to create something new? It is sooooo easy to rag. . HOW ABOUT SHOW? If you want to see what Disney really is capable, get off your brains and fly over to Paris, or yet, Disney's # 1 park, Tokyo, and see what change and vitality is all about. Disney is looking for new ways to release built-up energy inside the organization to go further—2 new cruise ships, the AK Lodge Villas Vacation Club, the Contemporary Vacation Club, the 4 seasons Resort, untold new rides and the rumored 2011 5th park. Oh, oops, and maybe finishing the Pop Century. How much of this do you know? Or can you pass it over with a "Yeah, that’s true, BUTâ€. ’Ya know, we all have opinions, just like a------s!! You know the expression. And stop knocking the extra hour events, which have been going on BEFORE 1987. They are a great way to extend the entertainment in a great way that families and kids love. You don't like Halloween, fine. Close your door and eat your candy by yourself. Halloween is the best. Why are you knocking Managers? Not only do they take it from Guests, they take it form Cast Members. Grow up. Maybe you have a simple job and have thought into what a manager has to respond to on a daily basis. And they are on call 24/7. Is it worth the money? Nope. Is it worth your comments? NOPE. Dollars for donuts, they don't read what you have written and wouldn't care in the least. GROW UP! Regarding Cleanliness… There are more Guests and 70,000 Cast Members who work 24/7 to keep the park as clean as possible. Have you EVER considered the most important member of the Disney Cast, the Custodian? He may be at the park at 7 AM and may work until 2 AM. He struggles with 100 degree heat so you can rag on. GROW UP! Guest comfort is key. There may be a line at Space Mountain, but there is a long queue area inside. Ever go to Universal? It’s exactly the opposite. GROW UP! Attractions come and go. The KEY WORD at Disney is "CHANGE". Maybe it is time for you to take a break from Disney and try Universal. I understand Captain Morgan and his 'Morganettes" are having a special this week—Rum Shots for $3.00. And you can touch a Morganette for an extra tip................ Better yet, if you are not a Cast Member, quit you job, become a Cast Member and you can really learn what 'MAGIC' is all about, especially after they don't fire you for your bad attitude. Go ahead, spend an hour and answer this. I would not only love to hear from you, but ANYONE who may even get my drift. Later. I'm running off to catch those old worn out fireworks at Epcot. Oh, how boring.....

And please... no more "that's what guests want" crap. Most average guests do not want, know or expect anything from WDW because they are clueless. These are the same guests who think they can ride the monorail to Islands of Adventures. >>And stop knocking the extra hour events, which have been going on BEFORE 1987. They are a great way to extend the entertainment in a great way that families and kids love.<< You mean, the "hard ticket events". Great way to extend the profits made in the theme park sector at the expense of day guests who would prefer not to pay (again) to enjoy seasonal activities in the park once it gets dark. And... Yes they have been going on since much earlier than that.. but at least they used to be held on times when the park historically closed early due to being low seasons. Now a days, regular day guests in the middle of summer have to call it a day early at the MK because Disney want to hold these events (not to mention the "Extra Magic Hours") during premium times of the year. I hardly call that a "value" for them tourists who are spending their hard earned money to visit WDW in the summertime. If TDL can afford to offer Halloween and Xmas events at regular ticket prices during regular park hours for 7-8 weeks in a row for each holiday, then the MK should too. >>You don't like Halloween, fine. Halloween is the best.<< Now, who's being childish? >>Dollars for donuts, (Managers) don't read what you have written and wouldn't care in the least.<< No, they don't.. And yes, I have been to Universal, and because they had the good sense to highly restrict their Express (fastpass) system by charging money for it, their stand by lines now move quickly and the overall waiting times have been greatly reduced. Disney should learn a lesson from this. >>Attractions come and go. The KEY WORD at Disney is "CHANGE".<< I am all for change, but change at WDW lately has not been exactly for the best. Sometimes you can find the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right. I am guessing that you are not seeing the light that is obviously there every day and every night. \Hey, my brother came down to WDW for the first time in 10 years. After he went home, he said 'I saw all of Disney. I don't have to come back to Disney again". OK, hows that for missing the MAGIC. After 30 visits, you may think the MAGIC is gone, but you are just not looking at it right. Don't knock Disney for thier 'lack of MAGIC', look inside yourself and ask why you've posted over 3,000 times and blame Disney for losing the Magic. No so. Again, I see it every day on the faces of Guests and Cast. It is you who has lost the ability to see the magic because you have changed. It sounds like you are also SAD.... Might as well blame someone besides yourself. I'm not a Flamer. I have chosen not to post in the past due to time limitations in my life. We should all look inside ourselfs for answers. WDW is a place to pull out the Magic we have inside of us. FIGMENT - It is OUR Imagination to use. It is there. Take it or leave it if you dare, but it is there to be used. Am I wrong? go ahead pile it on, but ask about yourself first and THINK about your answer ok?

And if you'd read this entire thread, and others like it here and on other web sites, you'd see that many more people AGREE with the Spirit than disagree, which should be an indication to any sensible person that there may indeed be problems within all that magic. To paraphrase Ben Franklin, perhaps it's time for you to doubt a little of your own infallibility, take off the rose colored glasses, and see the place for what it's become - still a wonderful, "magical" place, but not at wonderful as it used to be.

Can't help it if the place gets trashed so fast. How about cigarette smokers who drop their cigs into the water or leave cups on railings that drop into the lakes and kill fish? Disney works hard to keep those things down to a minimum and keep what the Guest sees are real and clean. >>How about "releasing built-up energy to make the major changes and improvements the MK needs to make it as magical as it's sister parks around the World??? Who needs more hotels on property? How do you justify the MK being the most expensive DL park on Earth to visit, yet it is the most stale of the Kingdoms? And please... no more "that's what guests want" crap. Most average guests do not want, know or expect anything from WDW because they are clueless. These are the same guests who think they can ride the monorail to Islands of Adventures.<< So, what are your ideas? Instead of being a Monday Morning Quarterback, bring on those great ideas you have that you can help the Imagineers on. And you are calling me the Flamer? Jeez...listen to yourself. Rag, rag, rag. 9,000 postings bring on the ideas and positive thoughts. You are losing it. Be part of a solution. >>By the tone of your post, seems to me you are the one in need of a shot. Hey the Wine fest is coming up...again... much to your enjoyment, and maybe you can get your 35% discount from those ridiculously high prices they charge for a small plate of hors d'oevres and cup of cheap wine.<< Just to show what you don't know and it bothers me that you are posting this blatant non-truth. First, most Cast Discounts are 20%. After 5 years, 35%. CAST MEMBERS DO NOT GET ANY DISCOUNTS ON ALCHOLIC BEVERAGES UNDER ANY CICUMSTANCES! Cast Members are not allowed to bring any onto premises and cannot drink on property either. >>IF guest confort was "key", then we would not have fastpass, where at some rides guests are subjected to 2 hr plus stand by lines that simply do not move. As for Space Mountain... you gotta be kidding me here... When was the last time the entire INDOOR queue for both tracks in Space Mountain was used??? Oh, right.. since the coming of FP, that's when! Obviously you don't have a clue about that either and probably have not ridden Space Mt. since then? And yes, I have been to Universal, and because they had the good sense to highly restrict their Express (fastpass) system by charging money for it, their stand by lines now move quickly and the overall waiting times have been greatly reduced. Disney should learn a lesson from << That is why Disney just finished changing the queue area for Soarin'. As for Space Mountain, let’s consider that this ride is still vital after 35 plus years and the capacity of the park has increased. FastPass was a method to decrease lines and it does work. Just because guests would rather wait an hour instead of getting a timed admission, don't blame Disney for that. That is the Guests’ choice. RIGHT??? Just a final note: wink wink. I am NOT a manager. I have been a Guest of Disney since the 1970s and now have decided to work for them on a part time basis. Go to the parks and enjoy.

And just wanted to tahnk you for repeating my entire post, in yours. It was worth repeating I guess. But that's OK. We are on to you now, so we won't waste our time much longer with a company puppet justifying their slips. So as you put it..rag on my pretty. You won't be around much longer, like the many company stooges who have come before you. And yes... 9,000 covering all of the Disney Resorts on Earth (many of which you could only dream of visiting as often as I do) on a recurrent basis so I guess you could say I am much more knowledgeable about the Disney resorts' experience over you in a lowly part time job for the Mouse. I guess you could say that's my line of work if it pleases you, and it makes me proud.
