Where to find Disneyana with the Gallery gone?

    A Manager at City Hall has confirmed that the Gallery does close on July 31st, as has the phone reservations for Disney Dining (Balcony reservations), and that it is being converted into a Hotel room for a 2008 giveaway (YOAMD, part 2).

    I would check either Off the Page in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot at DCA, or the Disneyana shop on Main Street, those are the two best locations for unique Disney items.

    Last weekend at the Gallery's 20th anniversary all the CMs, store managers and TDA types there were confirming it. Some of these people I have known for years.

    I think the reason there hasn't been any official word is they aren't ready to announce what they will do with the apartment space. No one last weekend was willing to share with me what is happening after the Gallery is closed.

I am under the impression that you can work in the Collectibles room of WoD without having any specialty training for it, whereas that's a requirement for the Gallery. Anyway WoD's selection of Print on Demand isn't as varied- they have the Attraction posters and the past Haunted Mansion and Pirates selections, but they don't have the other Imagineering art. Though perhaps they will be the recipients of the Gallery's print on demand system and data files.

    The also have lots of Disneyana stuff in the store on main street next to the silloute cutting place. The back of the store has statues and artwork, the front has books, magazines and some limited edition gear.

    The gallery's specialty has been more the artwork itself. They did carry a large selection of the general collectibles that the merchandise department creates, but that stuff is readily available elsewhere, Disneyana and WoD as has been mentioned above. It's the artwork specific to each exhibit that's not available elsewhere.
