I don't know, but it might be for the same reason that not every room gets cleaned properly even per the current standards. Another possibility is that if a housekeeper is running behind schedule and needs to make up time, skipping the towel animal would certainly be the first thing to eliminate, as unlike other tasks they could skip, nobody is going to think that the room is not properly cleaned just because there's no towel animal. In fact, they might actually be directed to do so by the management if there's a choice to be made between a towel animal and overtime.

    That's very true.

You can be sure that if Disney management didn't want anyone creating Winky's in their rooms (boy, that could be construed in other ways), they wouldn't be doing so.

I'm sure this is somewhere in Lee Cockerell's consulting book!

On a different (yet similar) subject, funny how Disney never had a problem (and encouraged) guests to deocorate their rooms and windows with toys, plush, holiday decor etc ... UNTIL they decided to rip off their own guests with this lame ass WHAT WILL YOU CELEBRATE? campaign and they now will charge you for decorating your own room or charge you for similar services if they do it for you ... yet they still won't vacuum, or regularly steam clean, your carpeting, disinfect your remote control and telephone and look under the bed!

Considering the Mousekeeping at the YC is amongst the worst of any WDW resort, that doesn't come as a surprise at all.

I don't understand this - how can they charge you extra if you decide to decorate your room yourself?

BTW, I forgot to mention this earlier: I found it very interesting that when they had the ceremony to announce next year's WDW Ambassadors, when the girl that was selected had a microphone shoved in her mouth right afterward, she worked in the notion of coming to WDW "to celebrate" into her response. They must have coached *all* of the Ambassador finalists to be sure to work in the new "celebration" campaign into whatever they say to the press.

I don't think there's really anything terribly wrong with the celebration campaign, but sometimes the way these things get presented is just too slick for its own good. I think a problem in general with corporate-speak is that when things start to get too slick, they tend to lose their unique attributes that made them successful to start with.

I got it and I'm grossed out! :)

Spirit, how many years have you been haunting the earth now? It's just that Ann was on the 'back 9'(golfing term whereby life is 18 holes of fun) even in 1969

Maybe you like your gals mature and born again Christian-like LOL

A certain substandard luxury chain I have been asked to use by my employer told me the reason they don't change sheets every day unless you put a card on the bed asking them is because the majority of the guests prefer the same sheets (under the impression it greatly saves the environment). I'm guessing this is the reason they use as well for leaving the dirty dishes from room service in the hall overnight, only picking it up once a day? At least the rot isn't only Disney.

Maybe Disney is siting a similar rational behind their thoughts? Isn't corporate culture cultivated by select individuals behind closed doors wonderful?

I bet that's what happens with the push for Timeshares and Credit Cards. Wow people must love our hotel, imagine if they could like return every year with our credit card, and branded lampshade and branded tv, they'd love it. Let's offer it to them constantly!

See, you said it, Disney is being considerate of the people who choose to sleep in, in the morning.

See, how nice of Disney to be considerate of the people who choose to sleep late in the morning.

And Spirit, if you really want a good prime rib, come to my house for Christmas dinner. Since my 2 darling daughters have said they don't like it, you can have their shares. However, my prime rib is about the only thing I make that their husbands like. At WDW, they kept looking for burgers and steaks, no sense of imagination or daring, I hate boring food. On vacation I do not want what I can make at home.

you know that while it fits within the context of Arlo's masterpiece - there are those of us who could likely tie it to Cooper's shenanigans also
