Yeah, that scene was pretty weak really. I mean, is the emperor THAT strong that he can waste 3 council members (Jedi MASTERS all) in a matter of seconds? It wasn't a sneak attack, they saw him coming and KNEW he was a sith.

If so, then Yoda is wrong and the dark side really IS stronger.

But all in all, I thought seeing the Jedi go down so easily was pretty lame. I mean, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon fought whole droid ARMIES and won...why was it so easy to kill all of them off, even if they WERE caught by surprise.

Honestly, I would have rather seen the whole first movie get scrapped, and make the LAST movie all about Vader hunting down and killing the Jedi (with his army) for the whole movie.

    But, c'est la vie.

In fact the bio for the first Red Shirt, er, Jedi that Palpy takes out is featured on Wikipedia and even mentions that he was killed after a whopping 4 seconds.

I only called them expendable because they were taken out VERY quickly, leaving the lengthy battle between Mace and Senor Palpy; The YouTube clip must have been shortened because it appeared that their scene was edited...I know, I know, I should just go out and rent the movie.

After seeing that clip, it looked like Mace accidentally killed the Jedi with the long white Bib Fortuna-esque head tube things.

It could have easily been fixed though. Just have the emperor say "well, I don't understand the meaning of this, but of course I surrender", and then put out his hands for them to "cuff him".

Relaxing, thinking things were all set, they turn off their blades, and then he sneak attacks them with force lightning and then kills the three of them while they're down. When he gets to Mace, he goes for the death blow only to be blocked.

    Fixed.

Here's another annoying thing. When Yoda leaves Chewbacca, what does he say?

"Goodbye, Chewbacca. Miss you, I will"

    WHA??

How lame is that? This is YODA and CHEWIE for pete's sake.

    He couldn't have said...

"Goodbye, Chewbacca. Much importance in your future, I sense"

"You will be a great asset to the galaxy"

    "Choose your companions carefully"

Or pretty much ANYTHING else "Yoda" style. WHY couldn't they have come up with something??

    Oh well.

FiveBear, lol. "red shirt", love it! And yeah, that third Jedi seemed to catch friendly fire, or at least he got nailed accidentally by the emperor maybe.
