I hope I am not the only one checking in. I was sad last weekend as Rod and I had a "limited" celebration of our 50th Anniversary. Our honored guessed were two dear people whom we met because of this site and have remained friends though they no longer post.
When I realized that our anniversary would land on a Saturday (6 years ago) I started telling people to save the date. We originally planned a trip to Disneyland or a huge blowout; inviting everyone we have ever known to a rented hall/catered *It Was 50 Years Ago Today* affair. Then Covid hit and things looked iffy. Then vaccines came along and it looked like maybe it could still be a go. Then people got all anti-mask anti-safety. My best friend from 7th grade and through life was removed from the guest list.
So we settled for a more intimate party (family and our choicest friends) at Rod's mom's house where there was more room for distancing. It all came off well except that I got carried away with the food (which I ended up preparing myself). Final preparations kept me away from my guests and just relaxing for the 1st half hour.
If anyone comes back here I will post some pictures and more details.

There were multiple decorations representing school buses. Family and most of our friends knew why but some of our newer friends were very curious about, *Why all the school buses?!?" Well, we met on a school bus. We were on our way to a college football game (we were both in the band) and I ended up having to sit next to him and the rest is history.
He made this table cover for me.

Our other symbol is a Railroad sign cuz of Rod and Ruth
Our oldest daughter made these cookies that were not only adorable but
    delicious.

It was a lot of fun setting it up. My daughter has pictures she has not sent me yet. Hopefully she got more of the balloons. I even found school bus lollipops but according to the kids; they tasted awful.
We were so all over the map planning this as Covid ebbed and then flowed again. I had finally settled on getting some enchiladas and tamales from the Mexican restaurant down the road and fried rice and chow mien from an Asian place nearby. I wanted to make my own kalua pig and rice. Then we went shopping and I bought the ingredients for everything and started a three day cooking adventure. I do not know what I was thinking! Believe me it was NOT to save money. But everyone told me it was delicious and I really enjoy cooking for large groups.
I did do my Kalua Pig which was a big hit.

Did some fried rice in both meated and (yuck) vegetarian and noodles.

Still needed Mexican so made chili, refried beans and make your own tacos.
