My goal at the moment is to do the 3.2 miles in 40min or less. Way far out so far but then I got awhile to go, my only fear is I am going to forget about it then Sept. is going to come and I am going to be like, "WHAT THE HECK DID I DO TO MYSELF?!!" **Caps intentional***

I also want to do the Minnie marathon in Disneyworld in May. I did the Disneyworld full this past year and I was supposed to do the full marathon again in Disneyworld this January (it's on my birthday!) but like I said, unfortunately, I'm injured. Don't worry about your speed, it will come with consistancy. You still have plenty of time, Just don't do too much and get hurt like I did! Good Luck!

    sprint 2nd 1/4 of lap 1
    jog 3rd 1/4 of lap 1
    spring 4th 1/4 of lap 1

    sprint 1st 1/2 of lap 3
    jog 2nd 1/s of lap 3

    jog lap 4

    sprint lap 5

than do the cycle in reverse.

Once you have completed one, that is 2.5 miles

do that 4 times for a 10 mile workout that feels like so much more. I gained a full minute over 1 cross country season on a 5k.

Sounds interesting, it's the weekend after MY 50th! :-D I might do the 5K, but I'll be walking, I can't run. I've done a half marathon walking before, like a quarter century ago :p

Yeah I am not exactly a runner myself. Unfortunately my goal is more about finishing the 5k than actually going that fast. Then again who knows it is still away out there.

Now DD has also been banned from running by her doc, so if we do this, we'll be walking!

Does the money collected go to charity? There seemed to be missing info on that at the website. Seems like they could end up with quite a bit in registration fees!

Not much improvement but I am pretty much just trying to slowly gain endurance and after that I will work on speed.

My sis ended up not finishing, but still got a cool medal and got to see a little of WDW.

I didn't realize DL did a half marathon too. I'll have to check it out.

Woo hoo! I didn't even realize today I was doing the extra lap. I cover the distance meter on my treadmill when I run. So I was watching a video (Simply Mad About the Mouse) and I was really tired but I said to myself well I will just finish this last song. When it finished I saw the time. I'm a bit sore so I don't know if I will continue that time out this week but next week for sure I will be trying out that distance.

A few months ago when I was more staedy at the gym I could do 10 miles in about 62 minutes of course that was on a machine so who knows about real world running but it's something to think about, now if only they would show who I'd be running for. Still, if it gets me back to the gym.

BTW have you tried using music when you run. I know it sounds stupid but when I got my ipod i tripled the amount of miles I would do literally in two days. Just a thought...

I sorta used your advice deadmentellnotales, was watching Little Men (very girly movie for the word men to be used in the title, but that is another story!). It helped a lot, I tried sprinting at the end but I still missed a qualifying time by 2 secs. I was pretty much dead by mile 3 and the only thing that kept me going for that extra lap was the thought that I was so close. Oh well, I still got plenty of time to improve.

Just got back from vacation so I wanted to see where my mile was. Needless to say it was horrible. On top of that I gained 4 pounds over the hollidays. The vacation was fun but I got some serious catching up to do.

Not much for qualifying time, but it was good to run the full distance again. I am guessing everyone else out there is doing the super secret training method because no one is sharing much. GL

Are the timings you're posting for treadmill or track? I tried timing a brisk walk last night and covered 2.2 miles of sidewalk (as measured by Mapquest) in 38 mins. That's a 17.3-minute mile, so I've still got a ways to go.
