The largest example of this right now is the Lucasfilm related films (Star Wars and Indiana Jones). As relationships warm with George Lucas, just as they warmed with Steve Jobs, I think Lucas would be much more likely to allow new attractions under his banner at the Studios if it wasn't specifically attached to Disney or Pixar.

Then again, Disney-MGM Studios has always been weird to me.

Talk about 'California' as a tough theme -- using 'movies' might be easier, but it's also lame.

On the other hand, Disney MGM banner didn't just use those products either, hence Indiana Jones example you used. That comes from Paramount and LucasFilm and that didn't bother Lucas then, why should it now?

But 'Disney Studios' seem like a better, more general way to go.

More seriously, I would think the obivious thing is to name it simpley "Disney Studios." Naming it "Disney Pixar Studios" only serves to statisfy some internal company politics. I could see there being a "Pixar Land."

I never saw what the hyphenated MGM did for the park anyway. MGM had already become largely bygone name.

A name change to 'Disney's Hollywood' would be fine in my book. Walt may have "seperated himself" from Hollywood, but there would be no Disney today if it weren't for Hollywood to begin with.

It still does. Maybe not as much as when Walt was still with us, but the Disney brand still is clearly different.
