It is just the combination of small and big things, which really add up to make what was once the crown jewel of Disney parks one of the lowest quality experiences in the company.

Yet most of the time when I ride it now a days, he's either just sitting there motionless or not there at all. I feel like I'm missing something that someone who had never riden the ride before would never know was even part of the ride. So that person who had never ridden is going to come off and say "Wow, what a great ride." But I'll be missing that part of the ride that is already part of my memory and my expected experience.

Ok, it's late and I'm starting to get a little deep here.

    2. If it is not perfect, and there is room for improvement in some areas, do we not want that ?
    3. Are we only allowed to speak of all things Disney is glowing terms even if that is not true about a specific item ?
    4. Do you not have things in your own life that you would like to see improved ? For me personally what comes to mind; less stress at work, more time to spend with my family, lose 20 pounds , re-model my basement etc.-- in my personal life I talk about these needs for improvement all the time, what makes Disney or WDW any different.

Frankly, I am heavily invested in Disney, emotionally and monetarily ( DVC / stock ( myself and both my children )-/ collectibles and vacations, so I feel I have every right to express my opinions, both good and bad as it fits -- and don't understand the sentiment that somehow WDW or Disney in general is above any criticism whatsoever.

I hope that answers my opinion on the matter....

there have been a number of threads recently about this...and I find it frustrating for a country where it seems acceptable for people to openly rip the president, both political parties, religious beliefs and all sorts of personal topics, somehow WDW and Disney are supposed to be beyond reproach. I don't understand.

You, vbdad, are insightful with your criticism...though we don't always agree...while others just bash for the sake of bashing.

Some people just enjoy being miserable people. It is what makes them happy.

As much as I love WDW, I do see that there are things that need to be changed and/or improved. I would really love to go to DL and experience their park. Who knows, after we go there, I might be one of those people expressing my opinion as well.

He was so critical of his local playground, that he decided to abandon the concept all together and build a place where families could have fun with each other, not have fun at the same time, but in a different place. It seems that one major recent trend for Disney has been to split the family up, while Junior plays at the Pooh Playground and the rest of the family goes on Expedition Everest or Mission Space. I know it was probably a slip, but that quote really shows why many of us are so tough on WDW.

I have beat the Pooh Playground argument to death. Some don't like it and others do. Guess what? Some don't like Small World and others do. I don't like spinning rides...that doesn't mean they should get rid of the Rockets, Dumbo or the Teacups.

Just a cursory scan would indeed seem like people are harshing all over the parks. A bit of deeper study would show that they people who are the most critical are the ones with the strongest love for the place, and a disappointment in its decline.

Could not agree with you more Bigboy.

I feel bad for those people, whoever they are. Since no matter how critical I can be about WDW or anything in the Disney universe, I still look forward to going there and *love* that I live only 12 minutes and can go there to enjoy it on a whim! As a matter of fact... I may go out there later tonight and enjoy myself and the parade of bad brit fashions!! hey! :)

I don't get there enough.. but then this is mostly a DLR type board where you have a lot of folks that think DLR is all that.. I'm married to one of em (giggle) but yeah, you won't hear me complaining overly much about WDW. I've almost ALWAYS had a magical time "where the magic lives". =)

thank you wahoo.....while it's true we may not agree on everything, I am willing to bet 90% plus we are probably lock step -- which is why we are both here. Like you I try and value everyones opinions when they make a solid point- and I don't have to agree to learn something. To me it's what makes the board so interesting.

Well put ... but what's with the smiley? You softening up in your old age?

To answer the OP seriously, even though I'll let your statement go double for me, I'll just say I'm just as hard on myself and people who work for and with me.

I believe there's nothing that can't be improved upon because nothing's perfect.

Trust me, I love WDW ... and even DCA too. I wouldn't have ushered in my B-Day with a midnight plunge into the Briar Patch if I didn't.

But there are way too many folks working for Disney at high levels that PROFOUNDLY lack the knowledge, the respect, the love and the understanding of what has made Disney unique and not just another 'brand' ... and the scary thing to me is that many of these imbeciles either get promoted or moved around in the company based upon short-term gains or by cutting standards further or by who they blanked ...

If I can't accept that at companies I have no real allegiance to, I certainly can't accept it at a company I have grown to love from childhood and have many friends who either have or continue to work for the Mouse.

So, yeah, when I'm at the MK walking down Main Street with another LPer, I won't name names but he was wearing a purple Daisy Duck tee, and we notice bugs all over the inside wall of the candy shop I'm not just going to ignore it and pretend that it was acceptable even 15 years ago.

And, frankly, there are more than enough people out there who don't have the perspective of being a WDW for over three decades like I do. I just love (SARCASM ALERT FOR THOSE IMPAIRED) when someone whose first WDW visit was in 2002 tries to tell me how great it is and how I don't know what I'm talking about.

    Any other questions?

What is the buy story? There were bugs on the wall of the candy store? When, where? What did you do? Did you point it out to someone?
