The Holiday Seasons are fun to see the campers with their holiday lights and decorations and Trick or Treating Camper Style! I just read last year about the Native Thanksgiving/teepees/cooking turkeys in the ground so I hope to experience this next year! At first I was thinking this was about Fort Langhorn on Tom Sawyer Island. Now that I feel passionate about because they have not turned it into Pirates Cove like DL. I like the DL update but the old fashion fort still is fun. Unfortunately Aunt Polly's is long gone.

My first few years, I had two PitBulls and they got to know the Pet shelter really well. I used to walk them, right through the NON PET areas, with a smile to get them there. The Disney folks would just smile and wave at me as they drove by, lololol. I now have two GreyHounds and they love the walks and all the attention the other campers give them. I also like the restaurant, HoopDeeDooRevue is there and the small boats you can rent. You can travel by bus or boat to go where ever you need. There are shows for the kids and Mickeys BBQ. you can choose to run the parks or just enjoy the day at the campground. THe other campers are friendly and like to chat. If it were not associated with the Disney grounds, I would miss the boats and bus transportation. I suspect they would need to be much better to catch my attention to stay off property and have to use my own transportation, but if there was a good enough incentive, like LOW COST, I might try it. For the moment, Fort Wilderness is great. You do know, Mr Eisner did not like FW, and if he had his way, would have closed it down. The bad part about FW, is it has been stripped of almost anything Disney brand. Few if any Mickeys, few FW brands, it is getting to be like a plain old, but exclusive, campground. Guess you have to cut somewhere. ID
