The last few times I went in there over a period of 18 months craving a Goldrush Sundae the customer service was horrible and the place needed a good cleaning. Then it closed very suddenly. That was around 1999 or 2000. Clearly G's wasn't that passionate about setting up these retail soda fountains far from their San Fran home base. They still have the soda fountain in the Ghiradelli Square in San Fran near the wharf. But even there it's not quite what it used to be. When I visited San Fran last a couple years ago the soda fountain looked kind of sad, it wasn't polished or sparkling, and the employees there were barely a cut above McDonalds. Something has happened to Ghiradelli's 1990's push into retail locations, and there just doesn't seem to be much passion from that company towards operating upscale soda fountains anymore. Anaheim's Downtown Disney and DCA is just one casualty of that change from Ghiradelli.

Of couse it couldn't go into Dis itself, though, because of my namesake.
