The latest discovery involved members of the same Whitehead lab. They found that nerve cells derived from the reprogrammed human skin cells can be successfully integrated in animal brains and improve symptoms of a neurodegenerative condition similar to Parkinson's. Originally Posted By johnno52 I personally feel that these studies are going to help many people in the near future. Stem cells are one hope we can have for regeneration of defective cells. Many people inherit defective genes and with this stem cell research it is coming close to combat diseases that have been such a burden on humanity.
