I think some people are reading too much into this one.

It's rather strange to reply to "lack of experience" by going directly INTO talking about your experience (without at least "I would certainly disagree with those who claim I lack experience, because...").

Seems to me, anyway. But clearly yes, it was a prepared response just like every other word out of her mouth up there.

Frankly, it's impressive the woman can remember it all. You mentioned cramming the night before an exam, well she sure is a master of THAT, no doubt.

I don't think I could do that, starting from scratch on a bunch of issues I know little about (calling a spade a spade here). Could you? ;p

C'mon guys, you're better than this.

Biden completely avoided the very first question put to him last night and instead launched straight into his party's talking-points. Does that mean he was simply dumbfounded by the question? I think not.

    >>"There's a lot of things she knows nothing about."<<

The same can be said for anyone who allows air to pass through their lungs.

    No, she wasn't asked that.

She was ASKED, specifically, what her Achilles Heel actually was.

And her answer was to talk about her experience.

I'd say that she didn't understand the question. Seems pretty clear to me.

    Really? Honestly?

    First you state:

    >>"It's rather strange to reply to "lack of experience" by going directly INTO talking about your experience"<<

    Then you later state:

    >>"She was ASKED, specifically, what her Achilles Heel actually was.

And her answer was to talk about her experience."<<

So, was she replying to "lack of experience" by going directly INTO talking about her experience, or not?

Given her most recent media attention (the infamous interviews,) I think this particular question demanded she spotlight her experience (preferably without pointing out any other personal foibles or Achilles Heels.) Also, given her most recent media attention, I don't see how any reasonable person could think otherwise. Was it scripted? Without doubt! But Vice Presidential candidates are nothing if not scripted (it’s conventional wisdom).

Okay, so you've gone on record that you believe "she didn't understand the question" (seems pretty clear to you.) But I find that entirely unreasonable.

And don't miss the correlation between others that think the same thing and those that really like Palin.

So you didn't understand the question either.

    Look at her answer:

PALIN: My EXPERIENCE as an EXECUTIVE will be put to good use as a MAYOR {not just a measly community organizer} and BUSINESS OWNER {not just a measly community organizer/not a Washington Elite/One of You Small Town America Mom and Pop Folks}and *oil and gas* REGULATOR {reform/Maverick/we're not gonna be bad DEregulators like they say, we're good, they're bad} and then as GOVERNOR of a HUGE state {don't think about the populations numbers, it's big, HUGE in fact, so I can handle the Nation because it's HUGE too}, a huge ENERGY PRODUCING state {we can get all the oil we need from there and be independent from that bad mid-eastern place} that is accounting for much PROGRESS {don't look back at Bush or that we're Republicans too, that's just obsessive and not patriotic} towards getting our nation energy INDEPENDENCE and that's extremely important.

But it wasn't just that experience tapped into, it was my connection to the HEARTLAND of America {Alaska is the Heartland - "microcosm of America," don'cha know}. Being a MOM {don't even get me started on this one}, one very concerned about a SON in the war, about a SPECIAL NEEDS child {don't think about McCain's record on children}, about kids heading off to college, how are we going to PAY THOSE TUITION bills? {what is McCain's position on this situation anyway} About times and Todd and our marriage in our past where we DIDN'T HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE {don't examine McCain's health plan, I feel you, everything will be okay} and *we know what other Americans are going through* as they sit around the *kitchen table* and try to figure out how are they going to pay out-of-pocket for health care? We've been there also so that connection was important.

But even more important is that WORLD VIEW that I share with John McCain. That world view that says that America is a nation of exceptionalism. And we are to be that SHINING CITY ON A HILL as President REAGAN so beautifully said, that we are a BEACON OF HOPE and that we are UNAPOLOGETIC here {we don't owe those elitist an apology or explanation for anything we say, do or believe and we can be righteously indigent about it}. We are not perfect as a nation. But together, we represent a perfect ideal. And that is DEMOCRACY and TOLERANCE {don't think about Religious Right} and FREEDOM {don't think about new powers govt has after 9/11 and the new role of the VP office} and EQUAL RIGHTS {don't think about McCain and Lily Ledbetter}. Those things that we stand for that can be put to good use as a FORCE FOR GOOD IN THIS WORLD.

John McCain and I share that. You combine all that with being a TEAM {of Mavericks} with the ONLY track record of making a really, a difference in where we've been and REFORMING, that's a GOOD team, it's a GOOD TICKET."

No, she understood. And she hit it like a freakin' pinball machine.

I sincerely hope this target audience is a very small ribbon in fabric of society.
