Her tummy was very upset to say the least. By the following week after Chemo she was admitted into the hosptial and had to have a blood transfusion as her cell count was only in the 40's (normal is about 2500). She was in the hospital for several days. My sister gives Cassie injections everyday to boost her blood cell count. Just 2 weeks after her 1st Chemo day, Cassie's hair fell out. Before we knew it the time had come for round 2 Chemo. Started on Valentine's Day. On the 15th she had a simple procedure of placing a portacath. This makes it easier on everyone including her to get blood draws and chemo. But the port was not easy to place and the Dr had a very hard time getting it in. He knew something was wrong so he called for some help. Praise the Lord he did. She started bleeding out. Because the Dr. called for help right away he saved Cassie's life. They had to do emergency chest surgery. She recieved 4 units of blood, have a chest tube and we in the PICU for 3 days. They moved her from PICU to a regular room and she recoved so fast they kicked her out =) 2 days later she developed a fever of 104+ and back to the hospital she went. This time she was in for 5 days. Today she is home and very happy to be home! This week she has several blood tests and the end of the week if all goes well she will have a stem cell harvest. These will be used for her future stem cell/bone marrow transplant in a couple of months. They do this to "rescue" her from all the damage the Chemo does. Her next round of Chemo is on the 7th of March. Please continue to keep her in your prayers, good thoughts and well wishes!
