If you're going to stop people before the time set for closing based on how long you "think" they might stay, how long do you estimate? How about stopping admissions at 4:30, because some people walk slow? How about stopping at 4:00, because some people linger too long? The only fair and proper time is when you sia it would close - 5:00 pm. Get there before then, and get in. Get there after then, too bad. That's the only appropriate time.

You don't solve that particular problem by locking the door any earlier. Plus, if a cast member were to admit a guest to the pavilion before closing time, I don't see at all how that would be considered making an exception. It's really all about expectations -- I see a 5 o'clock close as meaning the door will remain open until 5 o'clock. I also would expect cast members to use that as the time to close the doors and start clearing the building at a reasonable pace. That would have satisfied the OP, and it would have been a reasonable stance to defend against all those "me too" folks.

It reminds me more of a Costco "sample" set up. They could have had a number of reasons for stopping admission 6 minutes early (IF they really did). At any rate on a priority list of 1 to 10 (10 being the lowest) this whole situation would have to be a 15! And yet look at all the "air" time we have given it.

Since there was no rides involved and it is a special event facility they could close the doors early to expedite closing of the area.

And Disney does in fact post signs on places whose closing times are different than park hours. I was just at Innoventions last week and noticed the 7pm closing signs on the doors.

What bothered me was the idea that you felt so justified and even gleeful about turning in the CM for not allowing you to get in. That, in my humble opinion, isn't justifiable, it is just plain mean and self involved. Disney World or the world in general is not obligated to function around your schedule. If you indeed did show up 6 minutes before closing the question would be why? It was open all day and now that they are closing up, you have this need to get in there right now. They need to close up, clean up and get home to their families. Your wandering around taking pictures, well past closing deprives them of their needs. Closing means closing...that means no one should be in there after that time. It's closed. Closed means...no longer open to the public. So sorry, if you feel put upon and deprived of your birth rite but, I don't agree and I really get upset with people that are so willing to get another human being in trouble because of something so minor. And then seem happy about it. Sigh!!! This will be my last post on this subject because it is taking over my normally jovial being and bringing out the protective parent in me. Sorry!

A quick peek may taken only 3 minutes, and she still could still have been out of there before closing time, not keeping the cast members from their families any longer than the ones already inside (who didn't flee the building at the top of the hour). And if it was so important to shutter the doors, turn off the lights and get cast members home to their families at the stroke of 5 o'clock ... it's on Disney to make that clear in one of the ways discussed already. That seems more reasonble to me than what actually happened here.
