In terms of overall experience DLP is higher in regards to the actual park surroundings and theming - DLP beats MK hands down. I can't say the same for WDSP though it is improving. When it comes to CM interaction it's 60/40 in WDW's favour.

If it weren't for the fact that both are Disney resorts I don't know if comparisons would be made. In a lots of ways it's like comparing apples to oranges. One is a full-blown holiday with everything that goes with it and the other is a short-break.

That said I would urge anyone who has ever been interested in Disney enough to post on LP to visit as many of the resorts as possible. I think you'd have a great time at DLP.

Regarding where to stay unless you're on a seriously tight budget I'd say go for a Disney hotel. Personally since so many options have opened up nearby I have only booked 1 night in a Disney hotel. The Sequoia lodge and the Hotel New York are good choices.

My personal favourites off-site are The Holiday Inn, The Kyriad and The Hotel Elysee. All have shuttle busses and the Hotel Elysee has the added benefit of being the only non-Disney hotel to participate in extra magic hours. It's also right opposite a huge shopping complex which is a nice diversion for adults.

IMHO, steer clear of the Hotel Santa Fe and the Explorer's Hotel, especially if you don't have kids. Most would add the Newport Bay Club, but I didn't mind it!!!

Disclaimer* My head doesn't seem to be working today so if the above is gobbledy-gook please accept my apologies!!!

Sorry about the lack of response on this one, there is loads to cover off. I largely agree with UKFAN's view (also remember no fireworks when you are planning on going). But the attractions are better quality in the main than their Florida counterparts.

Sarah has been to DLP pregnant a few times. The no goes are:

Big Thunder Mountain, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril, Autopia, Space Mountain (goes upside down 3 times), Star Tours, Tower of Terror, Crush Coaster, Rock N Roller Coaster. Also beware of small drops on Pirates of the Caribbean (2 - Sarah did it though).

Also, anything where the boats bump could be resky - Pirates and Small World.

Also, if startled easily, and that's an issue, exercise caution on Armageddon and the Tram Tour.

But there are loads to enjoy.

I need to answer when I have a little more time (I should be working right now).

    Good
    - most beautiful MK park on planet
    - best versions of the e-tickets
    - some unique attractions like Cinemagique and the Labrynth
    - some great dining choices
    - close to home and cheaper than FLA
    - better parade (but only one in September) than WDW's

    Bad
    - not as clean
    - not as much live entertainment/fireworks
    - behaviour of other guests - pushing, smoking, poor hygene

    Different
    - European cultures (good elements here too)
    - very different merchandise
    - Not as many parks, but good quality in walking distance.
    - DLP is quality over quantity

Can I recommend though, if you can swing it with a prego to either stay on site or drive. Much better experience that way. Also, unless you buy a Dream AP, it will give you access to extra magic hours which makes a big difference when you are not sure how your better half will feel.

Do not miss Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. While a little on the expensive side, to me it is the best dinner show on the planet and blows anything in Orlando out of the water.

Personally, I would rather go to DLP than Orlando - but the weather and proximity are key factors. Also to me, I am a Disney park (re MK style) traditionalist and I think DLP is better than the MK. I love DL the most, but the costs and time to go 6000 miles makes me opt for DLP more often then not.

enjoy, and any queries, let us know.

There is a pin event which might help to soften the blow of missing you guys on the 30th.

When do you leave the resort? It would be cool to catch up even if it was just for a meal as we pass like ships in the night!!!
