I was afraid for the students in class; what should I do? The government had just allowed planes to fly again and I was so angry that I felt fear in my own country. I can only imagine how hard it is for those who lost family or friends.

I was seeing "The Devil Wears Prada" when this trailer was shown, and I was sobbing by the end of the trailer. No way I can sit through an entire movie of it. Just the other day, I was listening to a talk show that played tapes of what was recorded at NORAD, I think, the morning of the attacks, and that alone was bringing me to tears. I've heard "United 93" was really good, and part of me wants to watch it, but with these kinds of reactions, I know it's a long way off before I'll be able to handle watching this kind of movie. I still haven't yet been able to bring myself to see the movie version of "The Guys" even though I bought the DVD. /cs

For this movie, I've seen a few scenes. I know that it's based on true stories from the guys who the movie is about. And I think that because it's about people and not events, I *THINK* I can handle this better. I was one of the ones who thought the other movie was too soon, but I've since read opinions from others that have swayed me away from that thinking. Of course, we are not all like The Redhead...had I been in your shoes, I doubt I'd EVER want to see a movie about it ever. How are you, by the way? Having never set foot in New York myself, maybe I have just enough distance from the subject to be ready now. And since the two guys involved helped with the story, it carries more weight with me. If they do release "WTC" in the proper format in a properly tuned theatre, bring earplugs. It's loud.

Maybe in 20 or 30 years, when it isn't as fresh in people's memory, and there are people out there that weren't even born yet, but now old enough to see the movie, then it might be time. But now it just seems tacky. When the TV show Third Watch (about the firefighters in NY) did their 9/11 shows, it was alright, because the show was around before it happened, and they were being fairly realistic. With this, it just seems like a tacky way to get people's money. I'm also not a fan of Nicholas Cage. He just creeps me out. And for this movie to be effective, I can't see any even remotely major roles being played by somebody who is recognzable. There is really just nothing about this movie that makes me want to see it.

It is one of those that I will eventually like to see but not now. While we were in New York for his funeral, we took our kids to ground zero. It was very surreal being there knowing what was lost. The previews look good but my kids freak out every time they see it and we change the channel because they knew that their poppa was there that day and how many friends were lost by my husband.
