***WASHINGTON (CNN) -- U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson -- the South Carolina Republican who heckled President Obama during his speech to a joint session of Congress -- has raised at least $1 million in contributions, a campaign aide confirmed.***

***News of that cash haul comes after Wilson directly asked in a Web video for campaign cash***

So apparently it pays to be a boorish ass these days.

I have a lot of things to say about this, but none would meet up with community standards.

Sure, whatever you say.... John McCain earned more than 50 million last year in donations, so 1 million or 2 % of that figure is obviously the Republican base...

I am really getting tired of this Republican bashing, I can respect ecdc, and Mr. X because they at least back up their claims with hard to refute polls and stories, plpters, mele, and others just make these outlandish claims with no data or anything to back them up....

Too bad. As long as peole like Joe Wilson exist in the GOP (and I'm also still registered GOP), then the GOP gets what's coming to them.

Principles I support? At the moment, given what the GOP has put into practice, none. I'm not for obstructionism, lying, personal attacks, distortion, hypocrisy, defamation or pandering to a religious base. I believe in God, but God should in no way dictate my politics.

The GOP wants less government, but they want to get into your bedroom and sex life by overturning Roe v. Wade and pushing Prop 8. The GOP wants less government, but they want to be able to decide what kids should or shouldn't hear, read or see in public schools. The GOP wants less government, but they conveniently neglect to mention Social Security, Medicare or the Post Office when protesting health care reform. The GOP wants less government, but they're still all for wiretaps and invading sovereign countries. The GOP wants to be known as the fiscally conservative party, but GOP administrations have presided over some of the biggest deficits in history and started a war that still has no real end in sight that diverts money preciously needed elsewhere.

I miss the GOP that genuinely wanted to work in a bipartisan way, and didn't look at compromise as a sign of weakness. I miss the GOP that didn't make an electable presidential candidate cave in to the religious base and be forced to accept an extremely unqualified, ignorant, stupid Barbie Doll as a running mate. I miss the GOP that lacks the nerve or the guts to take back its party.

If I knew of a GOP representative who would be receptive to these thoughts AND work to put them into practice with his or her peers, I'd send them on. Know of any? I don't.

That'll really draw some notice and some cash. There won't even be the faked apology this clown offered.

I don't know if I believe this. And no - I don't have anything to support it other than gut hunch.

But I may be right too. I smell more than a whiff of republican 'truthiness' about it. The initial reports were that Wilson's democratic opponent was racking up big numbers - $700,000 in 48 hours. Suddenly Wilson 'campaign aide' rushes in late on Friday with this news that Wilson pulled in a cool mil.

How conveeeenient. Could it have come from ... SATAN!?

Maybe so, but probably not in a joint session again as long as Pelosi has her gavel and her Sergeant at Arms.

Let's not forget he prefaced the whole thing with "the leadership contacted me and ordered me to call the White House, which I did". Real contrite.

It is quite humorous when you think about it, the Democrats have a majority in House/Senate and the Presidency , yet they blame their problems on Republicans...
