I DO remember it being a big deal when my ex and I rented "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and unhooked our player to take to my Grandma and Grandpa's house so we could all watch it together after a big family meal.

I remember a few of them where "3 Dog Night" albums, I took a liking to 3 Dog Night as a kid. In the mid 80s I bought a VCR, I rented movies for $2 at the time, Video stores were opening all over the place. I never imagined *buying* a movie, it seemed dumb as I could simply go rent it again if I wanted to for another $2, why pay $20 to own it? Then after getting married and having a baby, we began buying Disney classic movies and Sesame Street videos for our [then] lil girl. In a couple short years we had shelves full of children's VHS tapes, they still occupy many boxes in my storage space.

We just used the blank tapes to record shows and movies and I don't think I ever actually owned a tape that was prerecorded! When we bought a VHS machine years later, I think the first tapes we had were Disney Sing Alongs.
