When I was in high school, I was stay up promising to clean the kitchen thoroughly just so I could watch Vault Disney and catch the episode of Zorro.

The DVD set is on presale at Amazon right now at 35% off and judging from how Scarecrow sold out last year, will probably jump in price very quickly after the limited release is sold out.

Sometimes I wonder if Disney really appreciates how many of us are fans of this stuff even though we came along much later. My mom and dad saw Davy Crockett and Zorro when they were kids. Then they introduced it to me. Now I'm introducing it to my kids.

I'm sure Disney's done all their market analysis and focus groups and every other corporate buzzword, but it just makes me bummed that the Disney Channel has become nothing more than the Hannah Montana Network. I still say a Disney Classic channel would garner enough interest to justify the broadcasting costs.

i'm sure some Disney VP is trolling the LP site and thinking... "hmmm, a separate Premium Disney Channel showing Classic and Vintage Shows... Maybe a free weekend preview, then an introductory subscription price... hmmmm"

hmmmm, maybe even the old style cartoons... and we can even include the old Thor & Captain America cartoons... Oooops, wrong Thread!

No but really, you guys know what I'm talking about? The good, wholesome shows from back in the day. I'm not dissing wizards of any kind (kinda like Harry Potter), but I just think it would be fun to see these tv shows and vintage Disney movies back on the air.

Sad but true. Hanna Montana gets a lot more viewers and makes a lot more money. Even at 3 AM.

(They also stopped doing it so you could buy that stuff on DVD. You are buying that stuff on DVD, aren't you?)

    Those diabolical....

The thing is, that doesn't much explain other shows that are plastered all over TV and are still available on DVD - Seinfeld, Friends, etc.

    People still watch those.
I know it's incredibly difficult for a Disney loyalist to believe, but there are just not enough people willing to watch That Darn Cat, Summer Magic or even Zorro to make it worth showing on a national cable network.

I think Disney doesn't change time zones for their programming. Sure, we're thinking, who's going to watch Hannah Montana at 3AM? Well, maybe there tweens watching it at midnight in Hawaii or kids/tweens watching it at 6AM as they're getting ready for school...

I remember being on vacation in Hawaii and seeing South Park on Comedy Central at 7PM (10PM Pacific) or seeing Captain Planet on TBS at midnight (6AM Eastern).
