As a Disney fan, isn't Oswald a billion times more interesting than stuff we've seen on Vault Disney and a third Donald set (spoiler alert: I hear in this volume, Donald gets flustered).

I think the folks in home video figured (correctly) that everybody would cut the Oswalds a ton of slack because of their age, 'cause it looks to me like they were pulling at least some of them from previously available DVD sources - some good, some not so good. In other words, of course they won't look perfect, but they could have looked a lot better than they do. I'll have to give it a closer inspection when I get a chance (in March, the way things are lookin') but I strongly suspect one of the 'toons, allegedly sourced from the original negative, is actually from a banged-up print (Shades of the 2nd Silly Symphonies set?). And I can report with 100% certainty that at least one of the new soundtracks is in mono for no reason. QC, guys! QC, QC, QC!!!

Plus, of course, the previously-mentioned cool little pin... NICE SET!

They chose the latter. I'm in no position to second-guess that decision. "Tall Timber" though . . . definitely not a Disney transfer. Serious underscan (obviously) and the only toon with out-of-spec video levels. On the plus side, I think it's the only one (AHEM!) that runs at the correct speed of 18 fps instead of the sound-film speed of 24 fps. And yes, the soundtrack for "Bright Lights" is still inexplicably in mono.

I can't sit down and watch 14 Donald cartoons together. They all start to blend. And the OCD completist in me wants to just finish the discs. Same with Pluto and the different phases of Goofy. I would love a shuffle feature where I could mix them all up. It's funny - I seem to have more fun with Hardy Boys marathons or Swamp Fox marathons or Silly Symphony marathons. If that makes me a "casual DVD buyer" I'd hate to meet one of the nerds!
