One of my favorite areas of Disney's Hollywood Studios was always the Streets of America. It wasn't an E-Ticket attraction — heck, I never even saw it when it was part of the Tour — but it was always just a nice place to relax and enjoy.

Of course, along with the Streets of America, we are also saying goodbye to many of the small touches in the area like the giant Coke bottle stand, one of the best quick service eateries, the Monsters Inc. Meet & Greet, and one of the true pieces of Disney Studio history: the Splash Fountain. IMG_9844IMG_9845

IMG_1786IMG_1783Of the four parks, DHS always had the most fun feel to it and the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: Movie Set Adventure area was always, to me at least, a big part of the fun.

By far the biggest loss with the closures, of course, will be the 2005 "gift from Walt Disney Studios Paris Park," Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show. Not only was this a fun show but also an amazing people eater, holding up to 5,000 guests per show.IMG_1845This 40-minute production promised action and it always delivered. From fast cars to high falls, guests always got their money's worth! I was lucky enough to be able to get up close to the action with a second-row seat just days before it closed and just so happened to be the last show for many long time Cast Members who gave some extra special looks at some of the action.

Sure all these closures right now seem like a bad thing, but, in just a few years when we are enjoying Toy Story Land and Star Wars Land, I am sure we will have forgotten about the sounds of screeching tires and New York facades.IMG_9568
