Christmastime is here. For most people, it's a season of showing their loved ones how much they care about them by finding meaningful gifts and gathering together in merriment. But for me, it's a time of locking myself in solidarity and feverishly trying to get all of the holiday Tsum Tsums.

Holiday Tsum Tsums

IMG_0440Holiday Tsum Tsums are back! I missed my chance to get any of them last year. I was quite foolish, thinking I could eat, drink and be merry with family and friends around the holidays and still get the sensational six in their winter finest. But nay nay, Lucky Time turned out to be unlucky for me and I ended 2014 with none of them.

Thankfully four of the Holiday Tsum Tsums are back this year and this time they play music. Holiday Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy have returned to the game and are available in Premium Boxes until December 31st. Please, Santa, all I want for Christmas is all of these.

Christmas Tree 1

IMG_0423Similar to the pumpkin candy game in October, there are three Christmas trees to fill with ornaments as we get closer to Christmas. When you play with Holiday Hearts, which randomly replace regular pink hearts in your heart meter, a red ball will pop into the game. You must attack it three times by popping orbs adjacent to it or using a character's power that can destroy it. I personally like to use Sorcerer Mickey for these games as you can quickly pop the orb with his skill.

After filling the tree by collecting all 10 ornaments, you are presented with three presents to choose from. I was hoping I would get a Holiday Tsum Tsum in the gift, but instead i just got some coins, gems and hearts. Allegedly one of the other boxes contains skill ticket and Premium box tickets and the third holds Holiday Donald and Daisy. My fingers are crossed that there are just two boxes under Tree 2 and then just one for Tree 3 so that every player can be sure to get them. If not, I'm going to go "Bah Humbug" all over the place!IMG_0451

Aladdin and Jasmine

IMG_0409Did you pickup your copy of Aladdin on Blu-Ray yet? In case you forgot that it's available, Tsum Tsum has added Aladdin and Jasmine to the game to remind you. During the Lucky Time weekend, I spent my life's savings of in-game coins and almost didn't get them. Thankfully, with my last 60,000 coins I GET and GET!

For a street rat, Aladdin is a fairly weak Tsum Tsum. When his skill is activated, Genie transforms the center vertical line of Tsum Tsums into Prince Ali. It's nice for keeping your chain going, but it doesn't translate into booku points. gallerygallerygalleryaladdin

Jasmine, on the other hand, is a great addition to the game. Her skill calls the magic carpet, which weaves across the screen from left to right and clears all Tsums in its path. She's one of those amazing characters that make it difficult to score less than 1,000,000 points at level 1.

December Plushies

Pooh's FriendsDecember 1st brought the first of two new Tsum Tsum releases this month. Dubbed the "New Pals from Winnie the Pooh" collection, the release expanded the Hundred Acre Woods with Christopher Robin, Rabbit, Roo, Owl, Gopher (he's not in the book, ya know!) and Lumpy (the Heffalump from Pooh's Heffalump Movie). Unlike most new releases, these weren't hard to get and are all still available.

PoohWhat went wrong? I think Disney made a mistake by not re-releasing the original Pooh characters which have been unavailable for a while. The initial US launch of Tsum Tsums featured Mickey and Friends and a Winnie the Pooh collection that consisted of Pooh, Piglet, Tigger and Eeyore. In other words, the core characters which are missing here from this set. Sure, they're available in the winky face collection, but collectors who missed the first release are likely less inclined to own this wave without the core characters (with both eyes open).

The second wave of Marvel Tsum Tsums comes out next Tuesday, December 15th. Guardians of the Galaxy characters Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket Raccoon, Groot and Drax will be immortalized as squishy, lovable plushies and I have to have them all. I'll see you all on at midnight.
