This week Disney accidentally set off a firestorm by releasing a video so offensive to some that it had to be taken down. The subject: a recipe for gumbo.
The trouble started when the company released a recipe video to tie into the film The Princess and the Frog which is set in New Orleans. Unfortunately for them, the ingredients they choose were rather unorthodox, including the use of healthy foods such as kale and quinoa while forgoing the roux which some arguing is required for the title of "gumbo."
As Digiday notes, Disney's posts were met with angry and snarky responses, leading the video to be removed Facebook and later from YouTube as well. The hashtags #GumboStrong and #DisneyGumbo was also trending as many voiced their displeasure.
@Disney @Disney_Family this is not right and you know it. I'd fire whoever came up with this idea 😡 #disneygumbo #AwwKaleNo

The #GumboStrong hashtag in response to #DisneyGumbo is exactly why I love being from Louisiana. You're just not gonna play with our food😂😂
