Following the announcement that Colin Trevorrow would no longer be directing Episode IX, has revealed that none other than J.J. Abrams would be stepping in to replace him. Abrams will co-write the film with Chris Terrio and direct the final installment of the current trilogy, which he kicked off with The Force Awakens in 2015. In a statement, Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy said, “With The Force Awakens, J.J. delivered everything we could have possibly hoped for, and I am so excited that he is coming back to close out this trilogy.”
