Yes. I do consider the elevator/foyer to be a pre-show because when you exit the room you queue again. I agree that it is generally an integral part of the attraction, but it's still a conveyance to get to the next part of the line. I have to admit that I am excited to see how all of this pans out. I wouldn't mind with a 20 minute attraction at all.
GMR was about 22 minutes; COP is around that same ballpark. Universe of Energy was 45, but I think that included the initial preshow; I think the seated time was around 36-37 minutes Given the trends we've seen for years, Disney is removing longer attractions and replacing them with shorter ones. I've heard the actual ride time for the new attraction is around 8 minutes, which is long by contemporary standards, but just a fraction of the length of Disney's grandest attractions. While the preshow elements certainly should add to the experience, I struggle to consider them in the total time on the attraction. I just hope the preshow is better than Flight of Passage, which is truly awful. It takes a neat attraction and makes it borderline intolerable. The script is verbose and confusing, the actor is awful, the multi-room procedure is tedious, and it really detracts from repeatability. The concept for the Star Wars preshow sounds neat, but it also has the potential to be terrible if executed poorly
The Land's costumes have been revealed..... What does everyone think? Cast Member Costumes Revealed for Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disney Parks - LaughingPlace.com Personally I think that they look great and fit the theme very well.
I have to admit that I am excited about the new area to be opening up, but I also don't want to be there during the initial craziness of opening. Who am I kidding?? We will probably set up a trip for Oct/Nov to go check it out.
Here is an early review of the land. SPOILERS if you read this: If you don't read the review, it is positive to blown away. https://io9.gizmodo.com/weve-been-to-star-wars-galaxys-edge-and-life-will-never-1832878349
And right after that last post I found this: It has a video the Animatronic of Hondo Ohnaka. Remember that animatronic of Bell from a few months ago.... Watch this. Star Wars Galaxy's Edge Theme Park | A1000 Animatronic
It sounds pretty cool. I am anxious to see and hear what it is like once it is all up and running. Even though I am a DL traditionalist, I think that in the near future they will wish that they had knocked out Autopia and Submarines and placed it there. But, I don't know as much about the park as most people.
It is official now, that SWL (Star War's Land) will have a Virtual Queue not only for the opening month but for most of the rest of the year. If you do not have a Disneyland AP installed on your phone you better install it soon. Personally I think that this is a great idea. Your thoughts?
Well, since I do not have a "smart" phone I am SOL. But not planning to visit in the next year anyway. It is obvious that something must be done. But here I see another case of discrimination against the phone intelligence impaired.
My leash is a clamshell. It's a modern enough clamshell that it doesn't turn into a paperweight if I cross the Canadian border, and it's a modern enough clamshell that I can access my email, and web sites, and open a WiFi hotspot for my tablet. But it's still a clamshell, and I like it that way. Luddites Unite! You have nothing to lose but your upgrade treadmills!
I agree...that chewbacca bacon looks delicious in comparison to the lowly yogurt I am currently consuming.
Just saw my first SW:GE commercial last night with the opening date. Anybody else seen a TV spot yet?
