(in large part because it required the back half of the park to be closed for fallout) and it hasn't been performed in about a decade In the last year or two they've started doing fireworks shows more regularly again, including for Star Wars Weekends and Frozen Summer. Depending who you talk to, this may have played a major role in the Hat's demise, since it blocked views of the skies and low-level pyro from many of the viewing areas

I used to go to WDW as often as I could from California (which really wasn't often). I was at EPCOT Center (yes, I still call it that) on opening day in 1982, and my first visit to DHS was in 1990. The newest attraction on my visit was Star Tours and Universal had just opened up the road from WDW!
