Clowns like these are the last people I want walking around with a gun.

That statement about controlling Donny and his guns by any means necessary comes to mind.

Stop listening to the noise machine. It does not mean that. It simply means well organized. By the government.

That is, not so disorganized that it would be useless if the need ever arose for it. It was meant as a substitute for a standing army, which the founders distrusted. And if you're going to substitute for the army, you can't be disorganized. But that's all it means. Stop listening to the noise machine.

Controversy arose over a September 8 city-wide order by New Orleans Police Superintendent Eddie Compass to local police, U.S. Army National Guard soldiers, and Deputy U.S. Marshals to confiscate all civilian-held firearms. "No one will be able to be armed," Compass said. "Guns will be taken. Only law enforcement will be allowed to have guns." Seizures were carried out without warrant, and in some cases with excessive force; one instance captured on film involved 58 year old New Orleans resident Patricia Konie. Konie stayed behind, in her well provisioned home, and had an old revolver for protection. A group of police entered the house, and when she refused to surrender her revolver, she was tackled and it was removed by force. Konie's shoulder was fractured, and she was taken into police custody for failing to surrender her firearm

That is nothing more than a man made law. And if the American people become fed up with the never ending and escalating violence, and that appears to be happening, they will support the repealing of that law.

Part of the problem is a lot of gun owners are also Christians who believe that the United States is specially blessed by God. Donny, who is a Mormon, would believe that the United States was specifically set up by God as a place of freedom, and that the Founders were inspired by God. Ergo, the 2nd amendment to these people isn't just a man-made law.

No word on why God set up a country with slavery and almost no rights for anyone who wasn't a white male landowner.

    As well you should.

I suspect it was my post that got admin'd (#21 - and seriously, admins?) so here's a second attempt:

Nobody is coming to take people's guns away unless they give the rest of us a good reason for doing so. And between the constant stream of gun violence, and gun supporters' continued intransigence (and trolling!) in public discourse, our reasons are getting better and better.

To put it another way, the majority of Americans believe that mentally ill people should not have access to guns. So gun owners, if they know what's good for them, should stop acting and sounding so crazy.

The second amendment WILL be repealed if there are compelling reasons to do so. Why do so many gun fans insist on constantly giving us compelling reasons?

Admins, I don't know of any nicer way I can express this.

No, because the Second Amendment has nothing to do with the military. The military is covered in the main body of the Constitution.

You do know that Congress has explicit authority to mandate training standards for the militia? That they can mandate that every gun owner - as a member of the militia - can meet certain standards?

No, I'm suggesting that gun violence is a serious public health issue that we need to address on a number of fronts.

Some of those deaths were intentional. Some were accidental. All of them were brutally violent.
