We've been doing for cigarettes, with ads that show how unglamorous it is to the human body.

Time to do it with guns!

Police say Chung Kim, 75, lived in an apartment below Jamie Stafford and Michelle Jackson, both 31. There had been an ongoing dispute about the couple dumping their dog’s feces on Kim’s patio and front door, police say.

During an argument Monday morning, police say Kim used a handgun to shoot Jackson outside the door on her balcony. Kim then went upstairs into the couple’s apartment and shot at Stafford, who was climbing over the back patio railing. Stafford fell to the ground and Kim went outside, stood over Stafford and shot him again, police say.

Both victims were shot multiple times. They died at the scene.<<

Now, see, this sort of thing is just going to keep happening, over and over and over and over. Some of the stories are going to be darkly humorous, like this one, some will be sad, some will be larger shootings that are spectacularly awful, but the end effect is going to be this:

    More gun regulation.

Seems to me that gun advocates would want to be in on crafting said regulation, since they're the ones who understand guns and their proper uses. You don't want the likes of me writing the regulations, because you're right, I don't even understand what a semi-automatic is, let alone what it's good for.

But they've chosen instead to be as uncooperative and trollish as humanly possible. So the gun laws will be written and passed without them, by people like me, and are going to suck for everybody.

    Hey, suit yourselves, guys.

So spot on. What we're finally realizing is that, awful as a Newtown or a Virginia Tech or an Aurora is, this is the real legacy of gun ownership.

Human nature and heated arguments escalate into murder. Take the gun out of the equation, you end up with a bloody nose. In extreme cases, you end up with a stabbing. But more often than not, fewer people die.

Well it wouldn't be any fun if they all did it at the same time, now, would it. Tomorrow is a another day.

    BTW ... it's now 269,999,999:

270 million? That would imply that just about every man, woman and child in the country owns a gun. Then again, that nice family picture seems to corroborate that.

Another thought: If there were as many commercial airliner deaths every year as there are accidental gunshot deaths, the fleet would be grounded.

Anecdote: When my kids were youngsters I would not allow them to enter any home where I knew guns were kept.
