Many Six Flags parks allow you to view and look at your photos online, and has been that way for years.... I still get an occasional e-mail reminding me that I can still buy the photos taken in the park... And usually some special offer...

Currently, at DCA, there is no online option.

At WDW they have a deal where you can buy a CD of all the photos taken. They have some limits on the amount of pictures, but many folks pay $99 for the CD.

I dunno. I usually avoid people employees that approach me at theme parks. Usually they either want to sell you something or want you to answer a survey. No, thank you.

Not sure when they started, but when I passed by this morning, they were tarps up on the one by the shuttle area. I'm assuming they are going to make it match the other one.

We did this when we went in May, and thought it was a pretty good deal. Of course, we were there almost a full week, and we went with another family, so we split the cost. You can get two photopasses and then combine them at the end.

When you go with your family only, you can only get pictures of all of you if you ask someone and we are always hesitant to do this. So we appreciate the people who ask to take your picture and have been disappointed when they have not been available.
That being said, we always seem to forget about the pictures until the end of the evening and then the place is packed and everyone is tired so we often just give up and go home without even viewing the pictures. Of course, we regret it later!
When we do remember and manage to see the photographs, we hate having to make the decision right away. More regrets!
I can almost guarantee we would buy more pictures if they offered the online option at Disneyland.

Yep. We have been APholders at DL for years and took a trip to WDW last April. I always avoid the picture-takers at the parks because I tend to see this as too hard-sell, especially in DCA where they seem to be so in your face about the pictures. It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. But I knew about Photopass and we had a big reunion at WDW, so we took lots of Photopass pictures.

Of course we bought MANY more pictures than we normally would have due to PhotoPass - you can choose in the comfort of your own home, you wish the vacation had never ended and you realize you didn't take enough pictures yourself. The "bad taste in the mouth" is transformed into magic. Genius.

    Only once. Never again.

And one of the reasons that I hate it so much is the reason that this is hard for me. Other than just being long lines, there has only been one time that DH and I got all the way to the front and there was even one decent photo out of all of the ones taken. And when we tried to buy that one, it turned into a half an hour long fiasco that involved stuff not getting sent, not getting printed and general not paying attention on the part of the cast members working on the thing. It did result in us getting a free 8x10 for all of the troubles, but we didn't really need that anyway.

Most of the time the pictures are horribly composed, the white balance is totally off or it's just a really bad pic in general. One fo the times we tried to get out pic in front of the castle, while the sun was bright and high, the guy dragged us under a tree to take the photo. I protested because I didn't want the spotty shadows all over our faces but he insisted that he always got the best pics there, so we finally let him. And sure enough, when we went to look at them we looked like we had some horrible skin disease, could barely see the castle properly and once again walked away photo-less. Also all of the shots tend to be really, really pink or really, really blue and I've never seen one that actually had any realistic coloring to it. And that, of course, was when they hadn't lost the photo in the system somehow. In the space of three trips we had four groups of photos disappear into the ether of the Disneyland photo computers :( And don't even get me started on the, "look surprised because Tink is going to appear in you hand shots." We actually had a photographer refuse to take any other pics of us just standing together in front of the castle because we didn't want a "Tink" pic.

(can you tell that we have been trying to get a decent shot of just the two if us in front of the castle for awhile? BTW-we still have never been able to get one.) The only two decent pics that we got of both of us at Disneyland was one by a Blue Bayou maitre 'd girl in front of the sign on our anniversary and one taken by a character wrangler of us and Mickey and Minnie in front of the theater on our honeymoon. And both were taken by non-Kodak photographers and with my own camera.

cwade - good question. IMO there really is no benefit to the Photopass system without the online component. When I heard they were starting Photopass at DCA I thought "great!" but when I heard it did not have the online component I thought "huh?!".

I was especially interested to hear that they are also making it possible to put on-ride photos at WDW on your Photopass. If they do this at DL they will definitely get more of my money.

I wonder if eventually your AP will become your Photopass card/media. They should do it that way to avoid giving out tons of unnecessary cards, for use with AP promos, among other advantages.

For now this'll be just like Florida's system before it went online. It's still nice to go to a central location, kick in your card and see all of your pics at once.
