Add the rum, Bourbon, brandy, port wine, vanilla and mace. Stir in the remainder of milkd and mix thouroughly. Stir in the cream, which has been whipped with 2 teaspoons of sugar. Fold in the beaten egg whites, which have been beaten with 1/4 cup of sugar. Let the eggnog stand at least 2 hours in the cold before serving. After it is placed in the punchbowl, grate fresh nutmeg over the top. This makes about 2 gallons, which will bountifully serve 25 people. It is tradition at Haw Branch to have eggnog during Christmas holidays, on through New Years. Footnote, whenever we follow this recipe for eggnog we buy store bought eggnog and add the booze and spices. I just wanted everyone to have the original recipe.
