Shipman, or Freddy, as he was called, is much better known for his killing than his healing. A British general practitioner, he is the most prolific serial killer in the history of Britain. From the 1970s to 1998, he was responsible for 236 murders. His victims were mostly elderly women who lived alone and were otherwise in good health. He was eventually caught after forging a will in the name of one of his victims, Kathleen Grundy.
