If there's something we can be doing to reduce deaths by knife stabbings, I'm all ears. What we do know is there's concrete steps we can take to significantly reduce the number of gun deaths in this country. But the NRA and many gun owners don't want to take those steps thanks to their obsessive love of guns and their unfounded paranoia. So our country continues to suffer because we're surrounded by not-too-bright people who think they need a gun, when in fact, they don't need one at all.

Insurance rates should be based on where the gun is stored (regulated storage facilities like they have in Switzerland would get the lowest rates). People will still have their "right" to own a gun, but since so many have proved irresponsible and negligent and have trampled on the most sacred right of so many, the government needs to step in and do what they can to prevent imbeciles from hurting others. And here is another example of irresponsible gun owners: http://www.usatoday.com/story/...4456583/ Of note: "TSA found 1,828 guns among travelers preparing to board planes in 2013, a 20% increase from the year before, according to an analysis of agency data by Northwestern University's Medill National Security Journalism Initiative." and "About 84% of the weapons found were loaded, and one in three had a bullet in the chamber ready to fire, according to the study. The most popular weapons found were .380-caliber and 9 mm handguns." Keep it up gun rights activists, you are making the case for gun control better than we could.

Why isn't Donny making a big issue about that? Why only focus on DUI? Most likely because of his religion. Hating on alcohol is easy when your religion forbids you from partaking. LDS hasn't banned smartphones yet, so it's an easier problem to ignore. Gun registration is something responsible gun owners welcome. Most gun owners in this country want background checks and the closing of the gun show loopholes. And in order to keep guns out of the hands of unbalanced individuals, gun registration would be necessary. That would be the only way to keep tabs on weapons and keep them from falling into the "wrong hands." Seems to me the only logical reason for why gun owners like Donny scream against registration is because it would either keep them from selling their guns to anyone who's willing to pay, as well as keep them from personally acquiring guns themselves if they didn't meet the requirements. Makes me think there's something in Donny's background that would prevent him from owning personal firearms if background checks and gun registration became mandatory. "Methinks he doth protest too much."

Facts and reason vs political and corporate hyperbole. That's why I am so sensitive about being grouped in with the crude people who base their opinions on passion rather than reality.
