" Last year my family took my Nephew for his first trip to Disneyland and it happened to be during the 24 hour event. They said it was terrible and actually left the park during the event. So, I don't feel too bad if fewer locals attend the event and others can enjoy the park.

It's the kick off to the 60th with all the new shows. Why should the cheap locals be able to clog up the park? You want more privileges then pay more

Disney did nothing to bait and switch as far as I can tell
Originally Posted By doombuggy "They pulled the bait and switch on the So Cal passholders for this event" No they didn't, owning a AP doesn't guarantee entry. If they wanted to they could block out Socal AP's for the whole summer or cancel them if they wanted.

You guys/gals are tough! Had I known 6 months earlier that it would require a deluxe to get this "bonus" day, perhaps I would have spent the extra money.
Originally Posted By FerretAfros >>Had I known 6 months earlier that it would require a deluxe to get this "bonus" day, perhaps I would have spent the extra money.<< You're always able to upgrade your AP to a higher level; you just need to pay the price difference between what you paid and the current price of the higher level. Given that the prices increased in the last 6 months, and that you'd only have another 6 months with the higher level, it may be cheaper to just buy a blackout pass (or if they don't do that any more, then buy a regular 1-day ticket)

Then in those first 6 months, I would have gone more times because there would have been less blockouts, so I would feel like I didn't get a good deal. Besides, don't want to OD on Disney. No big. I can go the week after and the new shows will be there.

And I'm sure that there were some out of town guests who took advantage of getting into the park for free (or a giftcard of equivalent value) on their birthday, during that one year where that was the promotion. If it happens to fall during your vacation, that's great, but it's unlikely to have any meaningful impact on your travel dates >>That may be the case, but is that a pro-rated price for the 6 months, or the actually price difference?<< The actual price difference : (
