Those sweet little featherheads just can't get any peace, not even on the water, unless they're swimming in the moat. If I were that cast member, I'd just scoop them all up into my arms and carry them to safety. Where was their mother?

And how many celebrities were there and who? Please remember.<< For the 50th, Disney had announced that they would allow people to begin parking in the Pumbaa lot beginning at midnight. We pulled into the lot no later than 12:10, but it was clear that they had been parking cars there for a while. We walked over to the Harbor Blvd drop-off area, where they were staging people, before beginning to let us into DCA around 2am. They handed out colored wristbands (in groups of 1,000) to keep people more-or-less honest about where they belonged in line; I was near the beginning of the second group, so there were probably about 1,100 people ahead of us They stopped letting people into DCA around dawn, and started lining everybody up at the DL turnstiles; from what I vaguely recall, about 12,000 people were let into DCA to wait. An hour before DL officially opened, they began to let us into the park via a temporary fenced-in walkway across the Esplanade. All of the rides in the park were open (with absolutely no waits!) and we were free to do whatever we wanted. The VAST majority of the people who waited overnight went straight to the merchandise area, which was set up in Big Thunder Ranch. I proceeded with my aunt to stake out a spot for the rededication ceremony in the hub. We took turns waiting and going on rides for a bit, but within about 45 minutes we decided it was best for both of us to be there to hold our spots For an idea of the ceremony and celebrities, check out LP's coverage of the event. You can even see me and my aunt in the first photo of the crowd, behind the lady in the low-cut orange tank top http://www.laughingplace.com/L...w-98.asp After the ceremony, we stayed in the park until around dusk. It was busy, but not as bad as most summer weekends; they had done a pretty good job publicizing the event and essentially scared away the average guests who might only be there for a random day. Overall, it made for a really unique atmosphere, where everybody in the park was there to share their appreciation for it Given that nothing has been announced yet for this year's July 17, I would expect less of an event to be made of it. However, with the rise of APs and the relative coolness of being a Disney nerd these days, I might expect that a lot more people will show up than usual. Additionally, it seems like the popularity of special edition merchandise events has severely dropped in the last decade, so I wouldn't expect nearly as many people to go straight to that area. A lot of things have changed in the last 10 years with how these sorts of events operate, so I'm not sure how accurate this will predict what will happen for the 60th. If anything, I might expect it to be more like the recent 24-hour parties they've done, but that's a total guess

I do like how they brought back a parade theme that was woven into the individual units' music (similar to Pixar Play Parade or MSEP), rather than simply having completely different music for each part of the parade (like Parade of Dreams), and I enjoy the main theme itself, even if I'm not a huge fan of the other arrangements they use

To my knowledge, the only time they shut the gates for multiple hours was the first year, when only DL was doing the 24-hour event. Since DCA has been added, I don't think they've had that issue; if anything, one park remained open while the gates were closed at the other
