Seriously, I can't imagine sitting watching a TV show and hearing them name my hometown as one that has just been bombed. Kind of creepy. Ususally a "generic" Los Angeles or New York will be used in shows. I didn't think much about it until last night.

And here's two changes I would like to see. Jettison all the silly love stories, it's not needed. And most important get Jack back to being the badass he was in the past. Jack has become way too soft for me. 99% of the time character arc is a good thing, but I want Jack to be the dominant force he was. I want the Jack who said "I'm gonna need a hacksaw."

    Bring back old school 24!

Check Dave Barry's 24 blog this week for Audrey's new "picture". (Last week she was a squid :)

Tue 4/10/2007 6:56p I honestly think 24 might have jumped the shark this season. Between Jack holding onto the under carriage of the big rig for miles to him hanging Fayed by the chain.

    I don't know. I'm just saying...

I'm thinking Jack is still pretty badass, especially considering he's been home for less than 24 hours after 2 1/2 years of being tortured.

The only love story I'm enjoying is Jack and Audrey. Chloe and husband I could do without, and Milo and Nadia as well. They keep trying to reproduce Tony and Michelle, and that hasn't worked. I had a feeling that the VP/assistant lady affair was going to figure into the plot somehow. There had to be a reason the VP was so fixated on her and that it was going to come back to bite him.

I still watch it, and it's still entertaining, but it's just so lame this year. There are so many ridiculous twists with Jack's father being involved in everything, if he is such a sociopath as the White House staff has acknowledged this week, why wasn't Jack aware of this?? Plus, there are WAY too many romantic attachments in a professional environment! Especially one that deals with our national security! I've accepted it before because it's television, but this year it's a bit out of control. It started with Jack and Nina, and that was alright, then it was Tony and Michelle which was acceptable. Then it was Jack and Kate, then Kim and Chase, Wayne and that powerful guy's wife, Jack and Audrey, Karen and Bill, Chloe and Morris, Chloe and Milo, Milo and Nadia, Nadia and Doyle, Jack and Marilyn, VP Daniels and Lisa....!! It goes on and on, I'm sure I could name more.
Another thing that erks me, these people have been working now 22 hours non-stop in a high pressure environnment. They've dealt with bomb scenarios (Morris personally), two presidental comas, numerous protocol changes, arrests, firings, and an invasion on CTU! And NONE of them seem tired and want to go home yet! Doesn't CTU have a different shift?? Am I wrong to believe that people work better when they are alert and refreshed? I know it's just a TV show, but it'd be more believable if these people were allowed some sort of a break. There's so many others there that seem to have no job what so ever.

As far as Jack and his father, it was established early this year that he hasn't spoken to his family in quite some time. And Jack's father has shown himself to be a sociopath based on the events of this day. He's obviously done a pretty good job of covering before this. Jack's brother was in cahoots with the father all along, and he even underestimated him - I don't expect he ever imagined that his father would kill him without batting an eye.

Personally, I'm still enjoying the show. They've just announced that they've renewed the show for 2 more years (48 Hours, as I like to call it), so I'm definitely on board.

As far as them working the entire 24 hour shift at CTU, I understand in a crisis state, you can't just send people home. But I think it's human nature to be a little exhausted towards the 20th hour. These people look as if they just clocked in! They must be robots!

They shouldn't have any time to be thinking about romance. I keep watching out of loyalty. Days 4 and 5 were the best so far, and I believe it will be better again next year. If not, I may have to stop watching.

    Looking forward to tonight's finale.

Plan for tonight - leave work much earlier than usual to get home by 8pm. Watch and possibly scream at the TV between 8pm and 10pm. Take a breath while the tape rewinds and then watch the season finale of "Heroes". And possible scream at the TV some more.

Last night's finale of "Desperate Housewives" was definitely a WOW moment.
