And how is it staying put in a spot and waiting for a while an "ordeal"? Because the Disney parks are ordeals in many ways... waiting in line for everything, crossing the Seven Seas lagoon, paying for parking.. getting there. Life is an ordeal as a whole in case you didn't know. It's not all about eating and breathing. If you can't appreciate artistry and make believe then why bother going to Disney? Sounds like an ordeal to me." Because I like characters, stories, imagination, just not in the form of a person wearing a costume, or a series of them parading down the street.

My general solution is to avoid going to the parks when they are busy or just try to bear it as best as possible. <<< Very smart of you Hanky. This is why you have to love the japanase because they don't see doing that (staking place, waiting 5 hours, etc..) as an ordeal BUT as part of the overall experience. Remember the old saying... "Good things come to those who wait!!!" and if not willing to wait then as you said, avoid the parks at all cost, period. Everyone is happy.

And I would hope for you to agree with mine that.. TO ME.. the parades and shows are just an extention of the character experience, artistry and story telling celebration of those things you mention you like above. If it's not for you, that's ok. I just find it odd that you can't seem to suspend your reality for a few moments to appreciate that, which is a requirement of the mind when you visit a Disney "themed" park, but I don't mean this as a personal attack, so hope you understand my point of view. For me, there is also an element of appreciation for the parades. They require a huge team of talented people to put it together. Lots of hours and thought go into putting these parades together. Engineering, Musicians, choregrapher, etc etc.. lots of talent involved. So yes, I will enjoy the parades as an added value to my park tickets. And the MK being the park that charges the most, it certainly is an aspect of the whole experience that I will most likely hold them responsibe to offer in addition to their ride line up and park enviroments.., which in comparison with TDR (at around $65 per day at TDL vrs $100 at the MK) the Florida lacks sorely in quality and value.

I'm very good at experiencing lots of things at DL with little wait involved, but find it frustrating that you can't do that with parades for the most part.
