I am a Floridian and have spent countless days at WDW since right after it opened. WDW is am amazing, wonderful, terrific kind of place. When you mention things like Epcot and the resorts as reasons why you love WDW, I just nod along because I feel the same way. But, and c'mon you knew there was one coming , I have been to DL now many times. Been to DLP too. Hope to make it to the Tokyo parks soon, and even HKDL too. I agree with much of what's been said by posters like TDLFAN ... DL is worlds better than the MK for me now sadly. DLP? As a MK park there isn't one that beautiful, the lack of manners by many guests can cloud that. But the same could be said of WDW and DL too, I suppose. You also have to understand where these folks are coming from. If you say you just love Pirates or Mansion or Splash Mtn or Space etc ... people like me, who have been around, are thinking 'Does this person see the condition these signature attractions are in? Do they even know what they are supposed to experience? Do they understand that the MK may be world cleaner and better maintained than a local Six Flags, but it is falling apart and filthy when compared with DL?' Those are the kinds of things going through many peoples' heads when someone gushes over the MK or WDW. A lot of us are angry because we remember a time when WDW was almost pristine, run by people who truly cared from street sweepers to execs. Sadly, that's no longer the case anymore. Instead we have a bigger product, with many more things to see and do, but at what cost? True Disney quality. The place just got too big for its own good sometime in the 1990s, just when management decided to care only when it was convenient or profittable. It's diheartening for example to see how dirty the film is on Soarin already. It's a new E-Ticket attraction. Hasn't been open a year, yet when I rode it this week all I kept noticing were huge dust particles looming over California landmarks like aliens on the rampage. There's plenty of excuses for that, but no justification. Tonight I was at FW's boatdock and saw the entrance sign was literally rotting away, while one of the main lights was out. Didn't used to EVER see anything like that before. So here's my advice, unsolicited but hey, it's a forum, keep enjoying WDW, but get to DL. If possible go to the other parks overseas someday too. And don't let fear of flying stop you. It's a horrible thing (my sister hasn't flown in 25 years) and it can prevent you from seeing so many places. There are ways of overcoming it. The longer you wait, the worse it will get.

You're going to make me cry. Stop it. And River Country ... all those 10-12 days spent over the summers in 70s and 80s, picnics, lying on the sand, watching fireworks from the beach ...now, I'm really depressed.

The thing that clouds DLP for me most is how unclean and trashy it is allowed to get! Here we have the most beautiful DL Park ever built and the trashiest, with some horrible faux pass... like giraffes in Discoveryland pointing to the Lion King show venue (Hyperion Cafe) Truly bad. >>A lot of us are angry because we remember a time when WDW was almost pristine, run by people who truly cared from street sweepers to execs.<< Reason why I gush ove TDL... it's quite similar in looks and feel to the MK (virtual twins in most places) and it's almost pristine clean, have a great CM crew to operate it the rightful Disney way and even OLC seems to care about it's quality. All lost items (to a certain degree) in the US properties and especially at WDW's MK.

EPCOT, even though it's getting long in the tooth, is still a better overall experience than DCA. I love DAK; DLR has no equivalent. This applies to resort hotels and restaurants too... I love the myriad of choices! 2.) More real estate. The World feels more relaxing because it's not in the middle of an ugly metropolitan area like DLR is. 3.) The Monorail. Just thought I'd throw this in since no one else has mentioned it. Sure, DL has a monorail too, but in this case, size does matter.

If all choices were superb in quality, then by all means..I could see your point of view. But being bigger and offering more choices have made WDW more unfriendly and unmanageable for someone to experience. But since the extensive availability of options and sheer size has made WDW more appealing (with very visible quality sacrifice) for some, then I guess that is why most of you think in your minds that is better. Like that old clique..."Bigger and Better than ever!! Rah rah rah!!!" I still beg to differ.

This is a first. I'm quoting myself, but that should read 10-12 HOUR days ...darnfast fingers. ''Nope, DLP's guests are the ruddest ever of any Disney park. Make WDW's guests be nice in comparison. It's been years since my last visit, and things were not that bad. Two things bothered me ----smoking everywhere and people cutting in queues. The parks itself was in wonderful shape. And I've steadily watched as the level of WDW guest has gone downhill ... but I guess the same thing can be said of Americans in particular and humanity in general. ''Reason why I gush ove TDL... it's quite similar in looks and feel to the MK (virtual twins in most places) and it's almost pristine clean, have a great CM crew to operate it the rightful Disney way and even OLC seems to care about it's quality. Just won't happen and Disney apologists will bring Wall Street into the discussion. But I'd be happy if we just went back pre-pink cake, pre-'96. I know I'm never going to get 1976 quality or 1986, so I'll settle for something in the middle. Maybe Iger's the guy too. At least, unlike Eisner, he isn't afraid to face the cast and fans and is holding this year's stockholder meeting in Anaheim for the first time since 1997, instead of some of the ridiculous places Eisner took it to hide from his critics. And it looks like Pixar will be back with Disney, or part of it. And I even do see some improvements at WDW. Saw a room at the Contemporary today and all I can say is wow ---- high end and not cheaply done in any way. So, who knows ... maybe just maybe we can at least turn the clock back a decade or a dozen years!
