Funny, I'd rather spend time in Paris Las Vegas or Epcot than the real thing as they are cleaner, and are full of nice people. Unlike the real thing.

If you've only ever experienced WDW's PotC, you will think it amazing, but it is truly the weakest version in the Disney Empire.

If I could teleport to spend a day in any Disney theme park, DL wins hands down.

If I have small kids - DL or DLP win becuase they offer a wonderful experience for the whole family in a compact space.

If I am on Honeymoon or a couple - then DL still offers the most magic, but WDW comes into contention.

The MK is weak compared to DL or DLP IMHO (with the exception of Country Bears, Splash, HOP, and COP). Also I think DCA brings nice elements of WDW to California. I also prefer the Californian weather and find a day to DL to be cheaper than a day at WDW - so better show quality, attractions, design, cast members, maintenance, and magic at a lower cost, in a nicer climate - no challenge. Add in that I prefer the Grand Californian to any resort in WDW (except maybe DAK because of the Animals Outside), and I prefer the Napa Rose to any restaurant anywhere in the globe, and DL is very compelling to me.

WDW though does offer the following I admire, found nowhere else in the Disney empire:

    1. Epcot
    2. DAK
    3. Disneyquest
    4. La Nouba
    5. A good choice of themed hotels to suit various budgets
    6. A great choice of restaurants
    7. Adventurers Club and the Comedy Warehouse
    8. BB and TL
    9. Fantasia Gardens
    10. Illuminations - this is the best regularly scheduled pyro show ever IMHO.

Special mention to WDW still having attractions no longer at DL - namely Bears and COP.

So WDW is not without it's merits - but two hours to get between two hotels for dining because you want to enjoy a bottle of wine. Attractions like Mission Space and the Pooh Playground that divide a family. Less attractions per sq acre.

I really feel like WDW best suits older kid families and adults. And to follow TDLFAN, I'd much rather have quality over quantity.

For the record - I have not been to Tokyo - hence the lack of comment on the resort.

Of experience - my ranking of parks:

    1. DL
    2. Epcot
    3. DLP
    4. DAK
    5. DCA
    6. MK
    7. WDSP
    8. MGM

    Hotels:

    1. Grand Californian
    2. AKL?
    3. Wilderness Lodge
    4. Hotel New York
    5. Contemporary
    6. DLH Paris
    7. PO Riverside
    8. Boardwalk
    9. Yacht Club
    10. Sequoia Lodge

    Restaurants

    1. Napa Rose
    2. California Grill Paris
    3. California Grill WDW
    4. Silver Spur DLP
    5. Blue Bayou DL
    7. Manhattan Bar and Grill DLP
    8. Goofy's Kitchen DL
    9. Whispering Canyon WDW
    10. Walt's DLP

Special mention to the great food choices at Epcot

    Attractions:

    1. Phantom Manor - DLP
    2. Pirates of the Caribbean - DLP/DL
    3. American Adventure - WDW
    4. Carousel of Progress - WDW
    5. Kilemenjaro Safari - WDW
    6. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Forbidde Eye - DL
    7. Space Mountain - DLP
    8. Star Tours - DL
    9. Jungle Cruise - DL
    10. Splash Mountain - WDW

    Shows

    1. Illuminations - WDW
    2. Fantasmic - DL
    3. MSEP - DCA
    4. Tarzan La Recontre - DLP
    5. Le Legend du Roi Lion - Lion King - DLP
    6. Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show - DLP
    7. Moteurs Action - DLP
    8. Believe - There's Magic in the Stars - DL
    9. Wishes - WDW
    10. Billy Hill and the Hill Billys

    Films

    1. Soaring over California DL/WDW
    2. Cinemagic - DLP
    3. Golden Dreams - DCA
    4. ITTBAB - prefer DCA's set up
    5. MV3D - prefer DCA's set up

The others I might not bother with except Seasons of the Vine at DCA or Refections de France at Epcot.

so you can see, even quantitively, WDW is lower down in my pecking order of favorites. There is more at WDW, but there is better elsewhere IMHO.

This INVITES comparison to at the least DL, so discussion of DL (and the other Disney parks)IS part of the thread.

If the thread was meant to be a myopic discussion of JUST WDW, it should have been "what do you like about WDW?".

Of course no one is obligated to stay on topic, but it would be nice if every LPer would at least try to think of three things, instead of coming to say why WDW is bad... that could be left for another thread. The way some folks make it sound, WDW has no redeeming qualities at all, which is preposterous. One only has to name three...

In my opinion it is not.

I suppose some of this could be culture, but here in the UK I get tired of people slating DL or DLP and suggesting they are inferior to WDW when they have never been to DL or DLP.

In this thread, a number of people have put reasons why they think WDW is better, having never been anywhere else. Hence my response.

My response would be totally different if the thread had been:

    1. What are your 3 favorite things at WDW?

    or even

    2. What has been improved at WDW over and above DL?

The question was what are three reasons why WDW is better than Disneyland, thereby inviting debate.

It's kind of like someone saying, I like the Spagetti Factory and then someone else saying, if you think that's good, you should try Alfredo's at Epcot. Though the spagetti factory has a good marinara sauce.

    Is that not akin?

Perhaps this thread wouldn't have gotten so out of hand if the topic had been "3 things you prefer about WDW to DL". Which is how I looked at it when I responded.

Nevertheless, here is my list of US parks:

    1)MK
    2)DL
    3)Epcot
    4)MGM
    5)AK
    6)DCA

Argue all you want, the list isn't changing...anytime soon. :)

Mr X, please don't be upset. I am not talking about the Urayasu areas or even Shin-Urayasu. I was referring to the immediate areas outside the resort perimeter.. You can't argue that those warehouses in front of TDS are a huge contrast to the wonderfulness that TDS is.. Then, that butt ugly Keiyo track that run by the front of TDL does notthing to make it a better area as well. And FYI...I would *LOVE* to live in that lovely (and very pricey) neighborhood just on the other side of the Keiyo track, which is even closer to TDR than your place is, as far as I know.

I am hoping to get there within the next 24 - 36 months ( maybe less as I have been working on it ) as business allows -- with all this build up I just hope it can live up to the hype -- as it is portrayed as just this side of Heaven. My expectations will be very high.
