That is why I also feel there is so much more to do at WDW. I realize that Southern California also has a huge number of great non-Disney activities available. But I don't like reality intruding on my Disney experience! If I want to do a whole bunch of cool stuff in a city I'll go to Chicago or Washington DC.

Of course not, but it is his reasons behind putting on the disappointment list that sort of bugged me. Drink prices, which it has been pointed out are not really bad, other people's children, and adults who like Disney. If he had said it was disappointing because of the high costs or lack of upkeep in some areas or whatever I could see his point. But basically his reason for WDW being a disappointment is the WDW is full of people who like Disney.

    And let's stop there.

"Maybe if WDW were a cheaper destination people wouldn't feel so ripped off and disappointed when expectations aren't met."

As evidenced by the dearth of repeat visitors.

There are plenty of repeat visitors, it's just a different dynamic than at DLR. Most DLR repeat visitors come roughly every year or two for a day or two. Visitors to WDW tend to come for about a week, and are more likely to have a 3-5 year return cycle. In addition to taking more time to visit the parks, most WDW guests also have a longer travel time, since they're not within a 2 hour drive (the population within that distance from WDW is practically non-existant in comparison to soCal). For most families, it's not reasonable to expect they can take the same week-long vacation every single year; an annual weekend trip to the same destination is much more reasonable

I think it's also related to how the two are engrained in our culture. DL is much more like a local theme park, where people head over when they have some time to hang out, where WDW has almost become a rite of passage. For a lot of people, taking their family to WDW twice is like having two First Communions or Bar Mitzvahs: it just doesn't make sense within the structural framework of what they think WDW is supposed to be

Lack of sustainability is one of the main reasons why I dislike Vegas. The whole greedy enterprise that is Vegas is so blatantly pointless and wasteful to the point of being disgusting to me. Much of the same applies to Disney, but at least WDW occasionally attempts to aim at something loftier than sucking every available resource to the bone.

But I have to agree that if your reason for not liking Disney is the cost of drinks (better than any ball park I've visited) and Disney fans then your criteria are too biased to be taken seriously. If the upkeep, or food and or experience quality were issues I would take the article more seriously.

If they are too crowded then they are not expensive enough.
What do you think would happen if they lower the prices?

As for screaming babies (and obnoxious stroller pushers, which I think are worse), I feel like there are less in WDW because it is more expensive so people are less inclined to take children who are too young to enjoy it. I love both parks for different reasons.

Pretty pointless statement there. THE reason Disneyland and DCA are overcrowded is the concrete fact that most AP's are purchased on the monthly installment plan. Before the monthly payments started, the parks.....well, Disneyland, DCA was still crap......were busy but manageable. Now, a trip to the California resort is beyond ridiculous.
