Real estate has been the hidden secret of WDW for the past decade and a half. Between Celebration land sales and DVC sales, WDW never had really show an operating profit. All of those real estate transactions add up to a lot of theme park admissions. The problem with DVC is that people are essentially paying upfront for 50 years of vacations, but Disney books the revenues (and spends them) in a single year. If the pace of sales doesn't keep up year after year, the whole scheme starts to fall apart.

They could have left the North wing and done a half-assed refurb for a few years. But grab a construction worker, offer a Dream Lanyard and Pins, and see what you can get out of him ;-)

That's just how big Corp. operate for what ever reason. I really think they would be worried about SS, and AKL having to compete with a CR DVC. Those things are going to go faster than any of the others to date. Unlike so many other folks here I like the new design. I just wish they had kept it to no more than six stories. I'm just worried about destroing the feel of the Seven Seas Lagoon. I sure don't think anybody is going to be happy with the extra demand it will place on the Monorail.
