Timur Galen thought he knew how to masterplan a theme park. In reality he was a real estate deal guy (and continues to be so as he runs Goldman Sachs' real estate practice) and not a guy with theme park experience. Again he went out of his way to ignore the folks at WDI that knew how to execute theme park masterplans. Sadly he was a Pressler choice. Eisner hated him.

The horrible mall-like entrance / courtyard, plus 'Seasons of the Vine', 'Golden Dreams' -- the whole farm area -- 'Superstar Limo' 'Eureka!' parade -- that whole section of 'Paradise Pier' with the 'Mali-BOOM-er' and USS Rustworthy, 'Steps in Time' and other shows and entertainment offerings -- all of it tweaked and / or replaced. Same 'full price / half day' complaints too. With the additions of 'Carsland' 'Little Mermaid' 'Tower of Terror' plus a new entrance and Buena Vista Street and Streetmosphere characters, it has certainly improved. To me, the opening years for both parks was very similar.

Only saying that there were more attractions and more diversity in storytelling/themeing. Maybe it's just my preference, but I've always felt that DHS was a bit of a dud. At least I could see DCA's potential on opening day. From the very start DHS lacked something (maybe because it was rushed into development?) and to me it was much more evident than DCA.

Still, in a park that has so little capacity in the first place, it seems strange to get rid of more, especially when this is such a new attraction (opened in December 2012). There's obviously something bigger going on that they haven't announced yet And on a related note, Intercot is reporting that the Hat will finally be removed, which lines up with various rumors from other sources

Assuming that the budget will continue to grow (as it did for DCA throughout the project), that can only be good news for the future of the park Interesting to hear that the on again/off again Monsters coaster is off for the time being. I suspect that the TSMM expansion took that ride's space in the park (though expanding TSMM's capacity doesn't do anybody a bit of good in the long run) It makes a lot of sense that he mentioned big entertainment to temporarily draw crowds into the park while it's under construction. WOC did that job for DCA while its front entrance was shut down, and it worked very well. What doesn't make sense to me is that he's suggesting a more regular fireworks show (which makes sense with the hat's removal, since it blocked a lot of the sightlines), since I'm sure all the low-level pyro fallout would be a nightmare over active construction sites He mentioned (in passing in a post later in the discussion) that The Great Movie Ride probably wouldn't still be there at the end of all this, but I have a hard time believing it. In addition to showcasing the park's purpose, I just don't think that they can realistically handle that big of a drop in capacity. Especially if LMA closes, I just can't see them shutting down Indy or GMR until after all the work is done; the park really has nothing in it at this point

They'll have the old Hollywood area at the front of the park, and 2-3 areas themed to a specific franchise. With my feeble imagination, there's no real way to make sense of it for an overall theme for the park (I even think DCA has a lot of trouble with Carsland and Flik's Fun Fair) >>Wish I could find an update that doesn't contain all the snark and inside jokes. :-/<< If you're lucky you'll be able to find one with either snark or inside jokes. I don't think that there are any out there that don't have either (at least any with real 'new' information)

The park will still consist of movie franchises. Hollywood and Sunset Blvd also fit the studios/Hollywood theme.
