Pretty much, except the trees are taller. The front of Tomorrowland got its upgrade in the early 90's, but the eastern and northern parts of the land are still sporting the "great big beautiful tomorrow" sort of look. Main Street and Adventureland, although set in other eras, definitely have a strong basis in the late 60's/early 70's aesthetic. It's a subtle thing, but definitely enough that it looks dated despite representing a timeless concept.

I am guessing this will be a good newbie coaster -- fun for little ones but not a real white-knuckler. But watching the construction process on this is interesting -- you compare it to how quickly they constructed the whole of Disneyland back then, with how long it takes to construct a single attraction today. No wonder they cost a trillion dollars each!

Diagon Alley... Lorax ride .... Jurrasic Park .....

    Uni & Disney flipped sides.

The New Disney is now the old Uni ...

I agree. I was sort hoping for something like the new Grizzly coaster in HK, but a little tamer, obviously.

What hype? And what's wrong with C and D tickets rides? Especially in Fantasyland.

    "meanwhile over at Universal....."

    Oh Lord, here we go....

From my understanding, it's intended to be family friendly, but with the extra element of the swinging cars, they don't really know that the height requirement will be, or how scary the end result may be. The track design is pretty tame, so I doubt there will be too much swinging

And the slow construction compared to DL is based on a couple different aspects. Obviously, there are significantly more building codes and construction regulations (yes, even in Reedy Creek) than there were in the 1950's. Additionally, it's much tougher to build in the center of a working theme park than it is to build in an empty orange grove, or even build an addition on the outskirts of a working theme park (like Mermaid); when access (and possibly working hours) to the site is limited, it's going to slow things down. And perhaps most importantly, this structure is much more complex than anything that they had at DL on opening day; those buildings were all warehouses with facades slapped on the sides and the rockwork was crude at best, while this entire mountain and the complex attraction (at least compared to DL55) within have all sorts of unusual angles and surfaces to contend with

How about the hype Disney themselves put into the whole renovation - as THE NEW FANTASYLAND ... "this massive EXPANSION ... better than slice bread" hype.

    OR....
The hype of all of us online fans hoping it would be Fantasyland's "bread winner" attraction. Since the line-up of new offerings is rather skittish.

    >>And what's wrong with C and D tickets rides? Especially in Fantasyland.<<

    I'm all for C & D tickets. After all, I grew up with Anaheim's 'C-ticket haven' Fantasyland.

But when the last E Ticket to come to WDW's magic kingdom park was 1992, over 20 years - One would think they would have planned for one killer E ticket that would go into their much publicly hyped "MAJOR NEW EXPANDED FANTASYLAND" ... but rather what does the newly designed Fantasyland have? The "D" ticket Little Mermaid ride .. and that's it! Until the mine coaster is built. 2 Dumbos don't constitute a MAJOR Attraction. A meet & greet doesn't either.

Online fans can geek out to the smaller details that the entire land does have - But in terms of net gain in actual physical attractions - The line up is just: Little Mermaid and the Mine Coaster.

If they didn't reduce the old Snow White ride into a meet and greet hall .. put the hall somewhere else, that would be one C Ticket ride through facility Fantasyland would still have. (That's a net loss.) And instead of holding on to the tents that were part of Toon Town .. turned that location into the new land's one and only New E Ticket offering(in addition to the land's only other E Ticket - it's a small world).

    WDW is increasingly becoming LAUGHABLE!

While I'm applauding Universal's attempt to step up their game.
